(2) “When” means “at or during the time that…”. 它既可指一个时间点,又可指一个时间段;可与延续性动词连用,也可与非延续性动词连用。

时间状语从句的概念:在英语中用从句来表示一件事情或一个行为发生的时间,那么这个从句就叫时间状语从句。时间状语从句根据其表示的时间不同,所使用的连词也不同,常见的有when,while,before,after,as soon as,since,until等。不同的引导词引导的时间状语从句的意义也不同。
Tips:
as soon as表示语句的动作紧接着从句的动作而发生。
not … until…与until:前者表示“直到……才……”,指主句的动作在从句所表示的时间才开始,谓语一般用非延续性动词;而后者则表示主句的动作在从句所表示的时间之前就开始,并且一直持续到该时间为止,其谓语一般用持续性动词。
“主将从现”:即主句用一般将来时态,从句只能用一般现在时。
从句的位置:时间状语从句放在主句之前或之后均可。但在主句之前时,应使用逗号与主句分开。
