1. 具体含义不同， festival的意思是节日、庆祝、纪念活动、欢乐,强调的是节日,并含有定期欢度的意味。也就是用这个词---不是个人活动，所以多指民俗类或特定的大活动。---有仪式感在里面，所以会是盛典，会有欢庆的行为在里面，大家在狂欢。而holiday的意思是假日、节日、休息日,强调的是假期。 2.使用场合不同， festival通常指的是是传统的节日,常与特殊名词搭配构成新的专有名词。holiday多用于英式英语中,指的是一个人在一年中不干工作的那段时间,也可用来表示一两天的短假期。 3.vacation 在美式英语中但凡是比较长的休假都可以用这个词（这个长短与人为认知有关系，有些人会认为一两天都是长假），如这周你出门旅行去了－这个时间段是你的假期。在英式英语中一般指法院和大学的，如：法院休庭时间，如学生的寒假，暑假。 vacation=vac空+ation表名词：由空闲引申出来“假期”的含义，这个意思怎么来理解呢？这种假期不一定是法定的，也不一定是传统的，但凡是空闲出来的时间，都可以用来表示，如悠长假期“long vacation ”。

两者的意思相同，但是含义完全相反。
be made of，由……制成，能看出原材料，而be made from，由……制造，看不出原材料。
如桌子由木头制成，是可以看出原材料的，直接使用be made of即可。
而纸是由树木做成的，是看不出来原材料的，就要使用be made from了。
