作文 U1 第六课时原题
Many changes have taken place in my hometown. In the past, people in my hometown lived a poor life. The houses were old and small. The pollution here was also very serious, and there was rubbish everywhere. Moreover, it was difficult for people to go to and from the town by bus or by train, so few visitors came here.
Now things have changed a lot over the years. People live a better life. Their houses are large and bright. Many people even have their own cars. Besides, the environment has become better. There are greener hills all around and the rivers have become much cleaner. As a result, thousands of people from all over the world come to visit my hometown every year.
Now people are enjoying a comfortable life. I am sure my hometown will become better and better in the future.

As a student, I was most afraid to answer questions in class, and I found that the students around were just like me. At the beginning of each class, when the teacher asked a question, I always lowered my head because I was afraid that the teacher saw me.
One day, in a foreign language class, Mr. Black gave us a lesson. He wanted us to be active in class, so he asked us some questions, but no one answered. "Let me tell you a story first," he said." When I came to the United States to study, the university often invited famous people to make speeches. Before the beginning of every speech, I found an interesting thing. The students around me always took a card folded (折叠的) in half, wrote their names in bold(粗体) with the most eye-catching color, and then placed the cardboard on the seat. So when the speaker needed the answers from the students, he could see and call a listener's name directly. "
"I couldn't understand that. My classmate told me the speakers were all top people, who meant chances. When your answer was to his surprise, it meant he might give you more chances. In fact, I really saw a few students got great chances because of that."
After listening to the story, I understood that the chance will not find you itself. You must show yourself all the time so that you can find a chance on the card.

What does it mean to be a good tourist? Which tourists are the most welcomed in their country? According to a study, one country stood out above all others: Japan. YouGov, a UK market research company did the study, including nearly 28,000 people from 26 countries and areas.
The Japanese are famous for being the world’s most well-dressed, tidy, punctual (守时的) and polite
travelers, The Telegraph reported. They line up politely and they never attend meetings late, talk loudly or try to take photos in art museums when they know they’re not allowed (允许) to do so.
Japanese tourists greatly surprised the world during last summer’s World Cup. The country’s soccer
fans helped to clean stadiums (体育场) after matches, South China Morning Post noted.
The study also showed that another country stood out at the same time, but in the opposite way. Many people thought British tourists act the worst in the world. Even local people in the UK don’t like British tourists.
Many people said that British travelers are loud, poorly dressed and behave badly. They are also stingy (吝啬的) when tipping at restaurants and hotels.
It’s not hard to be a good traveler. The Chinese government advises tourists not to throw rubbish on the ground or talk loudly. They are also told to line up properly and be more polite.
So how can we be a good tourist?
★Learn a few words or phrases in the local languages, such as “excuse me”, “thank you”, and
“goodbye”.
★Watch your body language. Cultures are different from place to place. Do your homework earlier. Some actions may be rude in the country or area you’re traveling to.
★Dress properly. If you’re unsure, learn how local people dress.
★Be a polite photographer. Try not to use selfie sticks (自拍杆), perhaps others can’t accept it.
8. What is the best title of the passage?
A. Tips for being a good tourist. B. The importance of being a good tourist. C. The best and the worst tourists. D. A report on a good tourist.
9. The underlined word “tipping” in Paragraph 5 may mean .
A. ordering some dishes B. waiting for meals
C. giving some money D. eating nice food
10. What do we know from the story?
A. Many people from the UK took part in the study.
B. Japanese tourists are polite while traveling.
C. Tourists from Japan like to stand out to talk loudly.
D. Chinese tourists never throw rubbish everywhere.
11. What can we infer (推断) from the passage?
A. It is difficult to be a good tourist. B. British tourists act badly because of being poor.
C. Travelers with bad manners are not welcome.
D. Local language is useless when you are travelling around.
The Silk Road is a historically important international trade line between China and the Mediterranean Sea(地中海). It began during the Western Han dynasty and has been a bridge between East and West for over 2,000 years.
The ancient road started from Chang'an(now Xi'an) and ended in Eastern Europe, near today's Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea. It was about 7,000 kilometres long and went across onefourth of the planet.
The Silk Road got its name in the 19th century because Chinese silk used to be carried along this road. Silk, jade, ceramics and iron went west to Rome. And from the West came glass, gems and food like carrots.
The Silk Road was very important to both China and the rest of the world. It was more than an ancient international trade line. Besides trade, knowledge about arts, science and literature, as well as crafts and technologies was shared along the Silk Road. In this way, languages and cultures developed and influenced each other.
Today, China is trying to build the “21st Century Maritime(海上的) Silk Road”. With the help of APEC held in Beijing in November 2014, the dream of The Belt and Road (the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”)(“一带一路”) is coming true.
