(Adverbial Clauses)
1. 定义：
在复合句中由从句表示的状语称作状语从句，在复合句中它可以用来修饰主句中的动词、形容词或副词，或是整个句子。
2. 分类：
时间状语从句、条件状语从句、原因状语从句、目的状语从句、结果状语从句、比较状语从句、让步状语从句

1. 定义：表示原因的状语从句。
2. 引导词：because, since, as等。
3. because, as 与since三者的区别：
because，since，as 引导的从句既可以位于主句的前面，也可以位于主句的后面；从句位于主句前面时，要用逗号与后面的主句分开。这三个词所表达的语气由强至弱依次为：because → since → as。

（1）because 表示直接原因，着重点在从句，它所指的原因通常是听话人所不知道的，语气最强。常用来回答why 的提问。
eg. Because it was raining, we stayed at home.
因为下雨，所以我们得呆在家里。

（2）since 侧重主句，从句表示明显的或已为人所知的理由，常译为“因为；既然”，较为正式，语气比because 稍弱，可以放在主句后面，但通常放在句首。
eg. Since you are free today, can you help me with the housework?
既然你今天有空，你能帮我做家务吗？

（3）as 引导的原因状语从句语气最弱，它所表示的原因只是附带说明的“双方已知的原因”，常译为“由于；鉴于”。语气比since弱，较为正式，位置灵活（常置于主句前）。
eg. As you are tired, you had better take a rest.
由于你累了，你最好休息一下。

Adverbial clauses of reason tell us why things happen. We usually use because, as and since to start adverbial clauses of reason.

Things to remember
When we put the adverbial clause of reason at the beginning of the sentence, we often separate it from the main clause with a comma(,).

1. because?of 是固定短语，后接名词，或名词性短语，表示“由于”，“因为”。它可引导介词短语作表语，也可引导短语作状语。
2. because 和because of 的意思都是“因为”，其区别为：
（1） because 后面接从句；
（2） because of后面接名词或名词短语。
eg. They didn’t go to the museum because it rained.
They didn’t go to the museum because of the rain.
