本单元利用图片教授新单词,设置选择加入社团的场景,教授学生“I can...”“Which club can...join?”等相关句型,不仅练习了本课时新单词,还教会学生如何表达自己可以做什么。通过听力练习,进一步巩固所学句型;通过对话表演,让学生在真实情境中进行学习,同时也为第二、三单元的学习扫清语言障碍。
教学目标
通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:
1.知识目标:
掌握单词和短语:play, tennis, piano, ride, club, term, board, would like, well, all, that’s all, worry, worry about, teach, then。
2.能力目标:
(1)能使用“can+do”结构来表达某人的能力;
(2)能通过不同目的的听力训练, 迅速提取有用的信息;
(3)能听懂、读懂、理解和复述对话;
(4)能完成对话到语篇的信息转换,填写重要信息。
3.情感目标:
通过对自我能力的介绍,培养学生的自信心。

重点:情态动词can的用法。

Step 1 Warming up
1. Show some pictures or PPT of school clubs. Ask and answer.
T: There are so many clubs in our school this term. Which would you like to join?
S1: I like music, so I want to join the Music Club.
S2: I’d like to join the Dance Club. I can have great fun.

1. Ask the students to look at the pictures in Activity 1 and say like this: I can...
2. Match the words and expressions from the box with the pictures in Activity 1.

(1)would like意为“想要”,与want含义和用法相同,但语气更委婉。would 是情态动词,无人称和数的变化。

join动词,意为“参加;加入”,通常指加入某一组织或团体,成为其中的一员。

join the army 参军
play the piano意为“弹钢琴”,play作动词,意为“演奏;弹奏”,与表示乐器的名词连用时,名词前加定冠词the。
play the guitar 弹吉他 play the violin 拉小提琴
[注意]
play与球类名词连用时,意为“打/踢……”,球类名词前不加任何冠词。

2. What about you?你呢?
“What about...?”相当于“How about...?”,主要用法有:
(1)用于承上询问情况,以避免重复,意为“……呢?”。
Daming likes playing the piano. What about Lingling?
大明喜欢弹钢琴,那玲玲呢?
(2)用于表示建议或征求对方意见,意为“……怎么样?”。
—I don’t like the book. 我不喜欢这本书。
—What about this one? 这本怎么样?
3. Which club can she join? 她能加入哪个社团?
which在此作形容词,意为“哪一个;哪一些”,后接名词。
Here are three pens. Which pen is yours?
这儿有三支钢笔,哪一支钢笔是你的?
4. Don’t worry about Chinese. 不用担心汉语。
(1)本句是否定形式的祈使句,以don’t开头,后跟动词原形。
Don’t open the door. 不要把门打开。
Don’t eat too much. 不要吃得太多。
(2) worry about意为“担心”,相当于be worried about。
My mother often worries about my health.
= My mother is often worried about my health.
我母亲经常担心我的健康。
5. We can teach you Chinese! 我们可以教你汉语!
teach动词,意为“教”,常见用法有:
(1) teach sb. sth. = teach sth. to sb. 教某人……
Miss Lin teaches us maths. = Miss Lin teaches maths to us.
林老师教我们数学。
(2) teach sb. to do sth. 教某人做某事
My father teaches me to use the camera. 我父亲教我使用照相机。
Step 6 Practice
1. Ask the students to read the words in the box in Activity 4.
2. Complete the passage with the correct form of the words from the box.
3. Check the answers together.

1. Play the recording once without stopping.
2. Play the recording again and stop at the end of each line. Ask the whole class to repeat.

本单元利用短文教授新单词,设置竞选的场景,通过贴近学生生活的话题,教授学生阅读和理解有关人物能力介绍的短文,教会学生如何自信表达。还设置了有关竞选的作文,让学生能够进行简单的有关描述人物能力介绍的写作。

Step 1 Warming up
1. Get students to talk about what they can do.
2. Ask them to discuss “Which monitor would you like to be for our class? And why?”
Step 2 Presentation
1. Introduce the new words and phrases to students.
2. Ask them to read the new words and phrases in groups.
Step 3 Discussion
1. Show some pictures of class monitor, PE monitor, and cleaning monitor to the students.

start此处作名词,意为“开始,开端”。the start of相当于 the beginning of,意为“……的开端”,表示“在……的开始”介词用at。
It’s the start of my new school life.

2. I get on well with everyone, classmates and teachers. 我与每个人都相处得很好,无论同学还是老师。
get on well with sb. 相当于get along well with sb. ,意为“与某人相处融洽”。

3. I work very hard, and I do well at school. 我学习非常努力,成绩优秀。
work hard意为“努力学习/工作”,hard作副词,意为“努力地”,修饰动词work。
We work hard at all our subjects. 我们努力学习各门功课。
My father works very hard. 我父亲工作非常努力。
(2) do well意为“做得好”,表示“在某方面做得好”用does well in,相当于be good at。
Wang Lingling does well in English. =Wang Lingling is good at English.
王玲玲在英语方面学得好。
4. Choose me as your class monitor and I promise to help YOU! 选我当你们的班长,我保证会帮助你们!
promise意为“保证”,promise to do sth.意为“承诺做某事”,promise not to do sth. 意为“承诺不做某事”。
My father promises to take me to the zoo. 我父亲答应带我去动物园。
Can you promise not to come late? 你能保证不迟到吗?
5. I want to be the PE monitor. 我想当体育委员。
want to do sth.意为“想要做某事”;want sb. to do sth. 意为“想要某人做某事” 。
My sister wants to be a nurse, just like our mother.
我姐姐想成为一位护士,就像我们的母亲一样。
My parents want me to keep healthy.我父母想让我保持健康。
6. I enjoy sport , and I can run really fast. 我喜欢运动,而且我跑得非常快。
(1)enjoy动词,意为“喜欢;享受”,后面可接名词、代词或动词的-ing形式作宾语。
They enjoy the school trip a lot. 他们非常喜欢学校的这次旅行。
My mother enjoys reading. 我母亲喜欢阅读。
(2)fast此处作副词,意为“快地;快速地”。
Mr Cheng walks very fast. 程先生走得非常快。
7. I often help my mother do cleaning at home and I like a clean and tidy house. 我经常在家帮助我母亲打扫卫生,我喜欢干净整洁的房子。
(1)help sb. (to) do sth.意为“帮助某人做某事”,help sb. with sth.意为“在……方面帮助某人”。
Can you help me learn English? = Can you help me with my English? 你能帮我学英语吗?
(2)do cleaning意为“打扫卫生”。在英语中,“do (+the / some) v.-ing”表示“做某事”。

Put volunteers in pairs to talk about what they are good at, can do well and how they can help.
Ask the rest of the students to make a table as below with three questions about their abilities to ask the volunteers. Put it on the blackboard.

Step 3 Grammar
1. Ask the students to read the sentences in Language practice. Pay attention to “can”.

4. Get the students to ask and answer in groups. Let some students give a report of the questions and answers.

can是情态动词,没有人称和数的变化,后接动词原形。can的基本用法是表示现在的能力,即能够做某事。
否定句是在can后加not,可缩写为can’t或cannot。
一般疑问句是把can提到句子的开头; 肯定回答是“Yes, 主语+can.”,否定回答是“No, 主语+can’t.”。
