Unit 1 I was born in a small village.
设计说明
教师通过介绍自己(出生日期,自己的第一位老师,第一所小学,第一个朋友等),很自然地导入新课;通过自学、小组合作等方式学习新单词,加深记忆。通过听说训练,让学生逐步理解和掌握一般过去时be动词的用法;通过设置不同的阅读任务,培养学生在阅读中抓住细节信息的能力;通过表演对话及做报告的训练,达到学生学以致用的目的。
教学目标
通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:
1.知识目标:
掌握本单元单词和短语:born, strict, friendly, primary, primary school, town, US, hey, village, nice, good, difficult。
2.能力目标:
(1)谈论自己的第一所学校、第一位老师和第一个同学;
(2)能初步运用句型“—Where/When were you born?”“—I was born in...”进行问答。
3.情感目标:
通过听说训练,增加对同学的了解,增进同学间纯真的友谊。
重点难点
重点:掌握含有be动词的一般过去时的句式结构。

Step 1 Warming up
1. Introduce yourself to the students.

Can you tell me something about your first school?
2. Lead the students to talk about their first schools.
Step 2 New words and expressions
1. Teach the students the new words and expressions. And then correct their pronunciation in groups.

Step 5 Language points
1. Where were you born?你出生在哪里? 
be born意为“出生”,通常用于一般过去时态,即was/were born。
born是动词bear的过去分词。
—When and where were you born? 你出生在何时何地?
—I was born in a small city in Shandong Province in 2006.
我2006年出生在山东省的一个小城市。
They were born on the 15th of March, 2001.他们出生在2001年的3月15日。
2. She was strict but very nice. 她很严格,但是人很好。
strict形容词,意为“严格的”,可在句中作表语或定语。
常用短语: be strict with sb.对某人要求严格
be strict about (doing) sth.对(做)某事要求严格
He was very strict with his students.他对他的学生非常严格。
They are strict about (doing) their work.他们对工作严格要求。
3. She was very friendly. 她非常友好。
friendly形容词,意为“友好的”,名词形式是friend,意为“朋友”。
be friendly to sb.意为“对某人友好”。
Everyone here is friendly to us.这儿的每个人对我们都很友好。
4. What were they like?他们是什么样的人? 
What+ be动词+ sb. +like?意为“某人怎么样?” ,是一个询问某人的性格、品质特征的句型。
—What is Jenny like?珍妮是一个怎样的人?
—She is very kind.她很友好。
5. He was quite difficult. 他相当难管。 
(1) quite副词,意如“十分;相当”,常用于修饰形容词、副词或动词,表示程度。
She is quite tall with short hair.她个子很高,留着短发。
(2) difficult形容词,意为“难对付的”,多用于修饰人;指物时意为“困难的”。
The old woman is difficult. 这个老太太难以对付。
It’s difficult work. 这是很难完成的工作。

本单元围绕过去的生活展开活动,以培养学生的读写能力为主,兼顾听说,并包括词汇、语法学习等。通过语篇阅读活动,一方面让学生掌握相关主题的语言结构与词汇,并进行基础知识和语言技能的训练,另一方面训练学生的阅读技能。通过写作活动,让学生学会根据需要选择性地组织语言,并结合自身经历描述过去的事情。
教学目标
通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:
1.知识目标:

1. Show some pictures to the students.
2. Ask them to work in pairs and ask and answer like this:

Step 5 Language points
1. I was born in Quincy,a town on the east coast of America,twelve years ago. 12年前,我出生在昆西——美国东海岸的一个城镇。
ago 副词,意为“以前”。“一段时间+ago”表示“……之前”,常用于一般过去时态的句子中作时间状语。
My father was in Beijing two weeks ago.
我父亲两周之前在北京。

2. I wasn’t bored in Quincy. 我在昆西不会感到无聊。 
bored形容词,意为“厌烦的,厌倦的”,常位于be, feel, become等连系动词之后作表语,用来描述人的主观感受,句子的主语通常是人。be bored with…意为“对……感到厌烦”。
With nothing to do, I was bored last Sunday afternoon.
上个星期天下午我无事可做,感到很无聊。
She is bored with her job. 她厌倦自己的工作。
[拓展]
boring形容词,意为“无聊的,令人生厌的”,指事物本身的特征,常用来修饰物。
That was really a very boring movie. 那确实是一部很枯燥的电影。
3. Behind the house, there was a big garden with lot of trees and there was a small lake with fish in it. 在房子后面,有一个大花园,里面有许多树,还有一个小湖,里面有鱼。
with介词,意为“有;具有”。
Lingling is a Chinese girl with long hair.
玲玲是一个中国女孩,留着长发。

“It +be+形容词+to do sth.”是一个固定句型,意为“做某事是……的”。位于句子开头的it作形式主语,后面的动词不定式(短语)才是句子的真正主语。

It’s not easy to learn English. 学好英语并不容易。
[拓展]“It +be+形容词+for sb. to do sth. ”意为“对某人来说做某事是……的”。

设计说明
本节课主要是语法be(was/were)的一般过去时。通过背诵Language practice中的句子,理顺本模块的重点。通过完成各练习,提高学生捕捉目标词汇和目标语言的能力;通过作文的设置,让学生能够向他人介绍自己的生活,提高写作能力。其中,Around the world介绍了南非前总统曼德拉的生平,能够拓展学生的视野,开阔学生的眼界,让学生在关注英美名人的同时也注意了解世界各地的重要人物及其人生经历。
教学目标
通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:
1.知识目标:
(1)复习本模块新单词、短语及句型;
(2)学习含有be动词的一般过去时的用法。

Step 1 Reviewing
1. Ask the students to read the news words and expressions in groups. They should help each other to correct.
2. Get them to read the passage in Unit 2 for a few minutes. By reviewing, they can get ready for this unit easily.
Step 2 Free talk
1. Show some pictures of your home town in the past. And ask the students to describe them in groups using the simple past tense.

一般过去时:was/were
一、什么是一般过去时态?
一般过去时态表示过去发生的动作或过去存在的状态。
对比记忆:
一般现在时态:表示经常性、反复性发生的动作或现在存在的状态
一般过去时态:表示过去某个时间发生的动作或过去存在的状态 
二、be动词的一般过去时
表示过去存在的状态,用be动词的过去式was或were。
三、什么是状态?
(1)是什么
Mr Lin was my first teacher. 林先生是我第一位老师。
(2)在哪儿
They were in Tianjin last week. 上周他们在天津。
(3)怎么样
He was bored then. 那时他很无聊。
四、各种句式结构
肯定句
主语 + was / were +表语+其他.
否定句
主语 + was / were not+表语+其他.
一般疑问句及回答
Was/Were +主语+表语+其他?
肯定回答:Yes, … was / were.
否定回答:No, … wasn’t / weren’t.
特殊疑问句
疑问词 + was / were +主语+表语+其他?
肯定句:He was in Grade Eight last year. 去年他在八年级。
否定句:He was not in Grade Eight last year. 去年他不在八年级。
一般疑问句:Was he in Grade Eight last year? 去年他在八年级吗?
肯定回答:Yes, he was. 是的,他在。
否定回答:No, he wasn’t. 不,他不在。
特殊疑问句:What grade was he in last year? 去年他在几年级?
五、there be句型的一般过去时
肯定句
There was + a / an + 单数名词+其他.
There was +不可数名词+其他.
There were +复数名词+其他.
否定句
There wasn’t / weren’t …
一般疑问句及回答
Was/ Were there +主语+其他?
肯定回答:Yes, there was / were.
否定回答:No, there wasn’t / weren’t.
特殊疑问句
How many / much … was / were there +其他?
There was a big garden behind the house. 房子后面有一个大花园。
There weren’t any interesting things to do then.
那时没有什么有趣的事情可做。
—Were there any good friends? 有好朋友吗?
