The survey shows handshake, meaning being friendly, is not popular among
high school students. When they meet, they prefer to hug their peers to show
welcome and friendship, because they think handshake is just a gesture widely
accepted among adults.
Tip: use different patterns to better the language

III. Writing a report on body language
As to looking another person straight in the eye, suggesting telling the truth
and listening carefully, a high percentage of the students, 95%, totally agree to do so to show their respect, patience and politeness. Almost every student will nod
or shake their head to show their agreement or disagreement. It’s surprising that
the majority of the students, influenced by western culture, think hug, not
traditionally accepted in China, is gaining increasing popularity.

Personally, I’d like to use all the above body language. When I meet a teacher or an elder, it’s more formal and polite to shake hands with them. Hug is a nice gesture and it shows the Chinese culture tends to be mixed more with the western culture.
