听力材料原文
Text 1
W: You’re going to New York today, aren’t you?
M: Yes. I had thought I’d fly but then I changed my mind. Taking a bus is cheaper than flying or driving, you
know.
Text 2
W: I’d like this textbook, but the cover is damaged. Do you have any other copies?
M: If that is the only copy on the shelf, I’ll give you a discount.
Text 3
M: Now, madam. Can I help you? I ought to say that we close at ten o’clock. And it’s five to ten now.
W: Then we must try to find a pair of shoes as quick as we can.
Text 4
M: Barbara!
W: Mark!
M: What are you doing here? You live in Manchester, don’t you?
W: Yes, that’s right, I do. But I’m having a week’s holiday here.
Text 5
W:What are you studying?
M: Japanese.
W: Isn’t that very difficult?
M: Yes, I suppose so. But I think one language is really as bad as another when you get down to it.
Text 6
M: I find that I can’t run fast enough when I play basketball. I always feel too tired.
W: Of course you’re too tired. You should weigh between 148 and 160 pounds, but you weigh 170. You’re too
heavy!
M: Well, I did gain a lot of weight this year, but...
W: Look, Mike, I’m going to put you on a diet. Follow it for six weeks, and then come back and see me.
M: OK, I guess you’re right. And I do want to be in good shape. I’ll come back and see you in six weeks.
Text 7
M: Hello.
W: Hi, Dad.
M: Liz! How are things going with you?
W: Oh, Dad, I’ve been so busy, but I’m fine. Guess what?
M: You’ve found an apartment.
W: Right... well, not exactly. I’ve found a roommate. New York is such an expensive city that I just can’t afford to
live alone. Now all we have to do is to find an apartment.
M: Who’s your new roommate? What’s she like?
W: Her name is Hilda Rosado. She works at Macy’s. She’s really nice. I think we’re going to get along fine.
M: Liz, that’s the best news I’ve heard so far. Your mom’s going to be pleased, too.
Text 8
M: Hi, Jenny. Are you coming for dinner Thursday night? It’s my turn to cook.
W: You’re cooking? I don’t know if I should trust you, Mike.
M: My parents do. I’ve learned a lot about cooking, and some things I make are really pretty good.
W: Do you make dinner often?
M: Every Thursday. You see, my mom works full time, so all the housework is divided among the five of us.
W: Steve cooks too?
4
M: He sure does, and pretty well too. His turn’s Monday. My mom cooks on Tuesday, my dad on Wednesday, and
Lily on Friday.
W: Who washes the dishes?
M: Everybody who isn’t cooking that day.
Text 9
M: Hey, Sis. Are you interested in buying some used books for school? You can really save some money that way.
W: Well, what do you have?
M: Well, let’s see. I have a science book called, Today’s World, and I’m selling it for thirty dollars.
W: Thirty? That’s a little expensive for an old book like that.
M: Maybe so, but I bought it for sixty. Plus,I wrote a lot of notes in the book that should help you with the class...
if you could read my writing.
W: What else are you selling?
M: Okay, I have an English writing textbook for fourteen dollars, a math book for twenty-three, and a novel for
only seven dollars.
W: Uh, Hmmm.
M: It’s up to you. You know, these things go fast. I mean you have to listen to my advice as your older brother.
W: Okay, I’ll take the English textbook and the novel. I need both of those for sure. I think I’d better not buy the
other books for now. Teachers are always changing their minds about textbooks.
