In this lesson, students learn the ways to describe a person’s look,job and personality. They can also practice writing details to support their ideas. After this lesson, I hope students can feel their deep love for the people around them and be nice to them.
学习内容
This lesson is the sixth period of the unit. It is a writing class. In the reading part of this unit, students read three passages about a family member, a classmate and a teacher. They are good examples for this lesson. Writing about a person’s look , job and personnality is very basic in English learning. We will learn and practice the ways in this lesson.

现状
Students in my class are very poor in vocabulary, so I will ask them to get thevocabulary ready before lesson, And they can’t use sentences to express themselves clearly, so I will give them more helpful sentence structure before they write. They are really emotional, I think they will be interested in this topic.

【设计意图】
1.This is the homework of last night. Students can write something about themselves because they have already learnt it last term.
2.They can review some words and sentence patterns of writing a person.
3. They show some funny pictures and fellings about themselves. Other students may feel excited and have interest in the lesson.
【Pre-writing】
Teacher tells students we will learn to write about the other person, not just yourself.
Teacher asks students to review the structure of the reading passages. They are good examples of writing other person.

Students need to know their objectives in this class: what they need to learn and write.
【While-writing】
Learn to describe a person’s look:
Teacher shows students some pictures and students need to summarize some words to describe a person’s look, including impression, build, hair,face and some special features.
Teacher leads students to play a game. Students need to choose a picture of their teachers by chance. They will use what they learn to describe the teacher they choose, and make other students able to gusee which teacher they are writing about.

By writing about their own teachers, they are so familiar. So they will find it interesting and have a lot to write.
Learn to describe a person’s Job:
Teacher shows students some pictures about some typical job and the working situation, and students need to talk about them and take notes.
Teacher leads students to inroduce one of their family’s job. They need to write down.

By writing about their own family member, they can think more about their family member’s job and know how hard they work for the family.
Learn to describe a person’s personality:
Teacher shows students a maching games with the personality of peppa pig and what she usually does. Students will understand when we talk about a person’s personality, we can add some things he/she does to support it.
Teacher asks students to think of more adjectives to describe a person’s personality, then teacher writes them down on the blackboard .
Teacher tells students to write about their deskmate and what he/she always does.
【设计意图】
Students will understand how to and why they need to write some details to support the idea.
Students can have more ideas of writing a person’s personality.
By writing about their deskmate, they can practice using details and how to make their writing convincing. And they will find it funny and moving to find out some shining points of their classmates.
【Post-writing】
Teacher shows students two questions:1.Among the people around you, who is the person you love? Why? 2.What do you want to say to him/her?.
Teacher encourages students to speak out their love forthe people and be nice to them.

By thinking and discussing these two questions, students can have an idaa of their love for the people around them.
The picture the teacher show can help students feel love around them.
【优点与特色】
利用了UMU平台让学生完成课前习,先写一篇自己的自我介绍,配上自拍,上传到UMU供其他同学点评。
教学过程中,设计了让学生通过写班级科任老师的外貌,让其他同学猜抽到哪一组的老师;让学生写家庭某一成员的职业,更能体会家人的辛苦;让学生写一个同桌的优点,并举出具体事例。通过这三个活动的设计,同学们既有小组合作,也有独立写作,也有跟同桌交流,分别练习了写人物的外貌,职业和性格,也感受到了师生情、亲情和同学情。
【问题与建议】
教学中没有使用信息化,如果能让学生在写家庭成员和写同桌的时候,把所写的句子放在UMU上,大家上去互相学习,互相点评,效率会更高。
学习写外貌和学习写职业的时候,教单词的方式都是看图说词或者看图说话,方式有点单一。如果一部分让学生回家准备,提前准备单词,效果会更好。
课后缺少一个学生的自我评价,如果加上就更好了。
