Teacher:As we all know,there are many famous mountains,rivers and lakes in the world.
Do you know which is the highest mountain in the world?And what do you know about it?In this lesson,we'll learn something about them.
Step 2 完成教材1a-1c的任务
1.学生将表格左栏和右栏的信息进行匹配,完成1a的任务。
2.学生听录音,完成1b的任务。邀请学生读出自己的句子。
3.利用1b中的信息参考1c框中的对话进行问答,完成1c的任务。
Step 3 完成教材2a-2d的任务
1.学生听第一遍录音,将2a中的句子按正确的顺序排列,完成2a的任务。
2.学生听第二遍录音,完成2b的任务,并邀请部分学生将所填数字书写在黑板上,统一核对答案。
3.学生利用2a中的信息进行对话练习,完成2c。
4.学生自读2d对话,小组内角色扮演,进行对话练习。
5.播放2d的录音,学生逐句跟读,并注音矫正自己的读音。
6.邀请一些同学进行表演展示,教师予以评价。
Step 4 重点词汇与句式攻关
1.China has the biggest population in the world.(P50)
中国在世界上拥有最多的人口。
【用法】population是不可数名词,意为“人口”。表示人口多少,修饰population要用big(large)、small,不能用many/much;对某地人口的多少提问要用疑问词what,而不能用how many或how much。如:The world's population is too big(large)now.现在世界人口太多了。
【拓展】population指人口总数,作主语时,谓语动词用单数形式。如:The population of this city is about 3 million.这个城市的人口大约有三百万。population前有修饰词时,比如分数、百分数,表示整体人口中的一部分人,谓语动词用复数形式。如:Two thirds of the population of China are farmers.中国三分之二的人口是农民。
2.As far as I know,there are no man-made objects as big as this.(P50)
就我所知道的,没有哪个人造物体和这个一样大。
【用法】这里as far as是固定短语,意为“就……而言;从……来看;尽……所能”,用来表示程度或范围。如:As far as I could remember,I did return him the money.就我所能记得的,我确实把钱还给他了。
【拓展】as far as也可表示同级比较,意为“和……一样远;一直到”。如:We didn't go as far as the others.我们走得没有其他人远。

【拓展】(1)include后只能接动名词作宾语,不接动词不定式。如:My job doesn't include making coffee for you.我的工作并不包括为你煮咖啡。
(2)including是介词,意为“包括;包含”。如:There are three storeys including the ground floor.包括底层共有三层。

【拓展】(1)die of与die from同义,但它一般指由于疾病、情感等内因引起的死亡。如:His grandfather died of liver cancer in 1992.他的祖父1992年死于肝癌。
