系动词
系动词本身有词义, 后接表语, 构成系表结构, 说明主语的状况、性质、特征等情况。目前需掌握的系动词主要有:
1. 系动词be, 用来表示主语状态。如:
She is a teacher.
她是一名教师。
2. 感官动词表示人的感官动作。我们学过了五个与感觉有关的动词,它们是look, sound, smell, taste和feel, 我们称之为感官动词。如:
These flowers smell very sweet.
这些花闻起来很香。
The tomatoes feel very soft.
这些西红柿摸起来很软。
Her idea sounds very interesting.
她的主意听起来很有趣。
The song sounds beautiful.
这歌听起来真美。
You look pretty.
你看起来很漂亮。
感官动词(feel / smell / sound / look / taste ...)的用法:
1. 感官动词均可作连系动词, 后面接形容词作表语, 说明主语所处的状态。其意思分别为“看/听/闻/尝/感觉起来……”。除look之外, 其他几个动词的主语往往是物, 而不是人。如:
2. 感官动词后面也可接介词like, like后面常跟名词。如:
Your idea sounds like a good one.
你的主意听起来不错。
3. 感官动词也可作实义动词, 除look作“看起来……”讲时, 只能作不及物动词外, 其余四个既可作及物动词也可作不及物动词, 此时作为实义动词讲时其主语一般为人。如:
I smelt the flower.
我闻了闻那朵花。
4. 感官动词的否定和疑问形式要借助助动词。如:
The shirt doesn’t feel soft.
这件衬衫摸起来不柔软。
