导入新课 Lead-in Show a short video about how the students cross the river to school. Think about how the students get to school. Help students to learn the passage well.
讲授新课 Step One Presentation Reading (Activities 2a, 2b & 2c) First, ask students to have a look at the title and guess what the passage is about. Then lead them to read through the questions below the passage, have them read the passage silently with these questions and underline any difficult language point. Several minutes later, invite a student read the passage for the whole class, have the other students listen carefully, focus on the pronunciation and intonation. Next, invite four students to answer the four questions, correct mistakes if any. Step Two Practice Give students several minutes for them to complete the sentences in 2c. Have them do it individually. Finally, invite four students to read their complete sentences to check the answers. Step Three Language Points1. Crossing the River to School 过河上学 cross 此处用作动词,意为“越过;横穿”。 2. For many students, it is easy to get to school. 对许多学生来说,到达学校是容易的。 (1)for 介词,在此意为“对...来说,对...而言”。 (2)It is + adj. ( + for/of sb.) + to do sth. 意为“(对某人来说)做某事是...的”。 其中 it 是形式主语,真正的主语是后面的动词不定式短语。 3. There is no bridge and the river runs too quickly for boats. (河上) 没有桥梁,而且河水流得太急,不宜小船摆渡。 (1) no 此处作形容词来修饰名词,意为“没有”,既可以修饰可数名词,也可以修饰不可数名词。 修饰单数可数名词时,no 相当于 not a/an, 但在语气上 no 要比 not a/an 强;修饰可数名词复数或不可名词时,no 相当于 not any。(2)run 此处用作动词,意为“流;淌”。 4. One 11-year-old boy, Liangliang, crosses the river every school day. 亮亮,一个11岁的男孩,每个上学日过河上学。 (1)11-year-old 是一个复合形容词,作定语,修饰名词boy,意为“11岁的”。由“数词+连字符+名词(+连字符+形容词)”构成的复合形容词,有两个特点:一是数词、名词和形容词之间要用连字符;二是数词后的名词用单数形式。 school day 意为“上学日”,指在学校上学的日子,尤指周一至周五。与之相应的词是holiday“节假日,假期”(英式),vacation “假期”(美式),以及weekend “周末”。 5. Many of the students and villagers never leave the village. 许多学生和村民从没有离开过这个村庄。 many of ... 意为“...中的许多”,of 后接代词的宾格、可数名词复数。接名词时,这个名词前必须有 形容词性物主代词、名词所有格或定冠词修饰,它表示一种部分与整体的关系。 8. They have to cross a very big river between their school and the village. 他们不得不穿越一条在他们学校和村庄之间的非常大的河。 have to 意为“必须;不得不”,表示客观上的需要,有人称、数、时态的变化,其后接动词原形。 Read the passage two times to finish the tasks. Try to describe the way the students go to school in a different way. Develop students’ reading and comprehensive skills. Help students learn to describe the same thing in different ways.
