Step 2 Presentation
1.Show the pictures of 1a. Then tell the students to look at the pictures carefully and say what they see. Match the activities with the pictures [a—f].
2.Ask students to listen to the teacher, and read them loudly:did my homework, went to the cinema, went boating,camped by the lake,went to the beach,played badminton.
Step 3 Listening 1b
1.Play the tape the first time. Students only listen.
2.Play the tape a second time. Listen to 1b.
3.Check the answers.

Step 7 Teach Activity 2d
First, give students three minutes to practice reading the conversation and get the main idea. Underline some difficult language points to understand at the same time.
Then lead students to read, and explain
those difficult language points.
Put students into pairs to practice role-playing the conversation.
Give them enough time to do it.
As they work, move around the room checking the progress.
Finally invite two pairs to act out for the whole class, and correct pronunciation and intonation mistakes if any.

In this period, we led into the new class through a free talk and stimulated students' interest. Then we learned some new words and expressions through the picture. Later, we did some listening and speaking practice to consolidated the knowledge we learned.

Review the grammar box. Ask students to read the questions and answers.
Review the difference between regular past tense and irregular past tense.
Then lead students to explain the structure of wh-questions in simple past tense in details.
Step 3 Practice
1.Teach Activity 3a.
First, ask students to have a fast reading of the sentences to know their meanings.
Then put students into pairs to fill in the blanks.One asks and the other answers.
Give them several minutes to do it.
Later check the answers.

2.Teach Activity 3b.
First, ask students to read the words in the box and know their meanings.
Then give them three minutes to read the passage silently and complete it with the correct forms of the words.

Later invite a student to read his or her complete passage to present the answers.
Ask other students to point out the mistakes if any.
Finally check the answers.

Step 4 Teach Activity 3c
First, teacher draws simple pictures of two things he or she did over the weekend.
Let students guess what teacher did according to the pictures.
For example:a picture of a TV and a picture of a tennis racket.
Point to the picture of the TV and ask a student to make a sentence about what you did.
S1:You watched TV.
Do the same with the picture of the tennis racket and ask another student to make a sentence.
S2:You played tennis.
Write the two sentences on the board and underline the -ed in watched and played and remind students to use the past tense.
Then ask students to practice the activity in groups of four.
Each student draws two things she/he did over the weekend on a piece of paper.
The students then take turns to make sentences about each other's pictures in the past tense.
Give them several minutes to do this game.
Later ask some individual students to show their pictures of two things to the class. Let classmates guess what they did last weekend.

一般过去时的特殊疑问句中,常见的特殊疑问词有:what(什么),when(什么时候),where(哪里),why(为什么),who(谁),how(如何,怎么样),how many(多少,提问可数名词),how much(多少,提问不可数名词),how often(多久一次),how long(多长),how far(多远)等。
一般过去时的特殊疑问句构成:
当句中含有be动词时,其句型为:特殊疑问词+was/were+主语+表语+其他?如:

当句子中有情态动词时,其句型为:特殊疑问词+情态动词+主语+动词原形+其他?如:

当疑问词在句中作句子的主语时,其句型为:特殊疑问词+be动词的过去式/实义动词的过去式+其他?如:

Then tell them some ways to overcome the sense of fear.

First, give students several minutes to read the passage silently and get the main idea of it. Underline any difficult language points at the same time. After the reading, give them several minutes to answer the questions below the passage.
Then, invite some students to present his answers,and let other students point out mistakes if any.
Later ask students to read the phrases in 2c and put them in order according to the passage.Then use them to retell the story.Ask several students to present their stories to the whole class.

Lead students to conclude the important language points together.

First,ask students to read the instructions to know what to do and how to do these two activities.

1.My sister finished high school two weeks ago.我妹妹两周前完成了高中学业。
before和ago都能表示一段时间以前,但是二者在内涵和具体用法上有明显的区别:
ago指的是从现在起到过去时间的某一点的一段时间。这个时间状语常与一般过去时态连用,如:
I visited my grandparents two weeks ago.
我两个礼拜前去看望过我的爷爷奶奶。
表示在某一时间点或事件以前时,只能用before,不能用ago。因为这种用法是将before当作介词或连词使用,ago不具有这种功能。如:
He will come back before eleven o'clock.
他将于十一点前回来。

你哥哥参军前在哪里学习?

Dr.Wang is so good that everybody loves and respects him.
=Dr.Wang is so good a doctor that everybody respects and loves him.
