第一课时 (1a-2e)
Master the key words and sentences.

—I'm not sure...about 10 kilometers.

1.Help students learn how to use how to ask the way to travel and answer with a verb or preposition way.
2.Distinguish between take and by when answering the way of travel.
Step 1 Lead-in
Enjoy a movie clip.
What can you see?What are they about?Do you know more words about it?
Show them a picture on the screen.
T:Please have a look at the picture.There is a house on one side of the board and a school on the other side.Some streets with left and right turns leading from the house to the school.
Use finger to trace a path from the house to the school.Ask students,“How do you get to school?Do you walk?Do you ride a bicycle?”
If you ask “How do you get to school?”and a student replies “Bike.”You can say,“Oh,you ride your bike.”Have students repeat “I ride my bike.”
Tell students that we'll talk about how to go from one place to another today.
Teach the new words and phrases.
Show the new words and phrases on the blackboard.Lead students to read them one by one and explain their meanings.
Step 2 Teach Activity 1a
Invite several students to read the phrases and speak out their meanings.
Call students' attention to the language point:
take the subway意为“乘地铁”。表示“乘……车”,均可用动词take。如:
He takes a train to work.他乘火车上班。
还有一些介词也可以表示交通方式,如:
by bus 乘公共汽车 by plane 乘飞机
by ship 乘轮船 by boat 乘船
by taxi 乘出租车 on foot 步行
on a bike 骑自行车 in a car 坐小汽车
Then give them several minutes to look at the picture and match the phrases with the right people.Have them finish Activity 1a individually.

Step 3 Listening 1b

T:Look at the picture in 1a.How do the students get to school?Make conversations with your partner.
Step 5 Listening 2a,2b&2c
First,invite two or three students to have a try to read the numbers in the box.
Then correct mistakes if there is any.
Lead students to read them together and match the numbers with the correct words.

Step 6 Teach Activity 2d
First,lead students to read through the instruction so that they can know how to do this activity.
Then divide students into pairs.Student A is Jane and Student B is Tom.Use the information in 2b to make conversations.
Step 7 Teach Activity 2e
Ask students to read the conversation silently first to get the main idea.
Then divide the class into pairs.One is Lisa,the other is Jane.Ask them to role-play the conversation.Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
Later invite several pairs to act out for the whole class.
Encourage students to make conversations about how they get to school in pairs.Take the example conversation as a model.
Give them enough time to do it.
As they work,move around the room checking the progress and offering language help.
Step 8 重点词汇
1.how的用法
(1)how是疑问副词,意为“如何,怎样,用什么手段”。本句为how引导的特殊疑问句,用以询问交通工具。如:
—How do you get to school every day?——你每天怎么去上学?
—I get to school on foot every day.——我每天步行到学校。
get在句中为不及物动词,意为“到达”,常与to连用,但是表示目的地的词是副词here,there,home等时,则不需要用介词to。如:
They'll get to Beijing at six tonight.他们会于今晚六点抵达北京。
I'll get there on time.我会准时到那里的。
(2)How long does it take...?乘坐……要花多长时间?
how long有以下两个主要意思:
①表示多长时间,主要用来对一段时间(如three days,four weeks等)提问。如:
—How long does he stay here?——他在这儿待了多久?
—About two weeks.——大约两个星期。
—How long does it take to get to London from here?——从这里到伦敦要多长时间?
—At least ten hours.——至少要10个小时。
②表示某东西有多长。如:
—How long is the river?——这条河有多长?
—About 500 km.——大约500千米。
(3)How far is it from...to...?从……到……有多远?
How far主要用来询问从某地到某地的距离。如:
—How far is it from your home to school?——从你家到学校有多远?
—About three kilometers.——大约三公里。
2.get to
get to意为“到达”,后面加地点,若地点为副词here,there,home等则不加to。
【拓展】(1)arrive意为“到达”,是不及物动词,后面跟地点时需加介词in,at。in+大地方,at+小地方。
They arrived in Beijing yesterday.他们昨天到达北京。
He is arriving at school soon.他很快就到学校了。
(2)reach是及物动词,后面直接跟宾语。
They reached Beijing yesterday.他们昨天到达北京。
3.It takes sb. some time to do sth.
意为“花费某人多长时间做某事”。
【拓展】“花费”:spend some time/money on sth./(in) doing sth.;pay some money for sth.;cost主语为物。
It took me an hour to clean the room.=I spent an hour cleaning the room.我花了一小时时间打扫房间。
The book costs him 10 yuan.=He paid 10 yuan for the book.=He spent 10 yuan on/buying the book.这本书花了他十元钱。

1.For many students,it is easy to get to school.对很多学生来说,到学校很容易。
(1)for是介词,在此意为“对……而言,对……来说”,后面常跟名词。如:
For the beginner,he drives well.就初学者来说,他开得不错。
(2)it is easy to get to school是个it作形式主语的句子,真正的主语是后面的不定式,本句也可说成to get to school is easy。如:
It is difficult to learn English well.学好英语比较难。
2.There is a very big river between their school and the village.在他们的学校和村子之间有一条非常大的河。
between...and...意为“在……和……之间”。如:
There is a bookstore between my house and the station.在我家和车站之间有一家书店。
The country town is between 5 and 6 miles away.县城在五六英里之外。
3.One 11-year-old boy,Liangliang,crosses the river every school day.有一个11岁的男孩,亮亮,每天穿过河去学校。
(1)在此处,用“基数词-year-old”作形容词,修饰后面的名词boy,此句也可改为:One boy called Liangliang,is 11 years old.注意加连字符的时候,year不加s。
(2)cross意为“横过,越过”。与之意思相近的还有across和through。它们的用法区别如下:
①cross作动词用,意为“穿过,越过”。主要表示在物体表面上横穿,如横穿过马路、过桥、过河等,与go across同义。作名词用是“十字架,十字形饰物”的意思。如:
Be careful when you cross the street.过马路时要小心。
Cross(Go across) the bridge,and you will see a big building.穿过这座桥你就会看到一幢大楼。
②across是介词,有“横跨,横穿,穿越”之意。与go/walk等动词连用表示“穿过,越过,横穿”的意思。如:
The Great Green Wall is across the northwest of China.绿色长城横跨中国西北。
Go across the road,you will find the post office on your left.横过这条公路,你会发现邮局就在你的左边。
③through是介词,表示“在……之中,透过”的意思,常与go,walk等动词连用,表示“穿越,横穿”等意思。主要表示从物体内部穿过,如穿过森林、隧道等。
The two friends were walking through the forest.两个朋友正穿越森林。
The sunlight comes through the glass.阳光透过玻璃。
