Teach the new sentences:
Don't eat in the classroom.
Don't arrive late for class.
Don't run in the hallways.
Don't play sports in the classroom.
Don't fight.
(Ask the students to read the phrases over and over again until they can speak out them fluently.)
Ask the students to look at the picture in 1a and write the number of the rule next to the student.
Step 3 Listening 1b
Before listening

While listening
T:Now we will hear a conversation.It's about three students Peter,Selina and Mike.Please listen carefully and find out what rules they are breaking and write the numbers after the names.
Play the recording for the first time.Students only listen.
Play the recording again.Listen and find out what rules these students are breaking.

Check the answers.

Step 4 Teach Activity 1c
Student A is a new student.Student B tells student A about the rules in 1a.
Let students practice in pairs.Then choose volunteers to show their conversations.

While listening
Listen and check the activities Alan and Cindy talk about in 2a.
Listen again and find out if Alan and Cindy can do these activities.Circle “can” or “can't” above.
Step 6 Teach Activity 2c
Lead students to read the example conversation in the speech bubbles so that they can know how to do this activity.
Put students into pairs.Student A is Alan and Student B is Cindy.Ask them to make conversations like the model using the rules in 2a.
Give them several minutes to do it.
As they work,move around the room offering language support as needed.
Finally invite several pairs to act out for the whole class.
Step 7 Teach Activity 2d
First,ask students to read the conversation silently to get the main idea of it.
Then lead students to read together;call their attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Tell them they have to underline the difficult points as reading.
Explain some language points in this period.
Step 8 重点词汇,句子
1.arrive
意为“到达”,是一个不及物动词,不能直接跟表示地点的名词。如果要跟名词,就必须加介词in或at。在“大地方”前加in;在“小地方”前加at。如:
When did you arrive in Shanghai?你什么时候到的上海?
When we arrived at the school,it was 7:50.我们到达学校时是7:50。
如果arrive后不接名词,就不用介词。如:
After you arrive(here/there),please call me.你到了(这里/那儿)之后,请给我打个电话。
2.Don't run in the hallways.别在走廊里跑。
这是一个祈使句。祈使句常用来表示请求、命令、劝告等,通常省略主语you。它的谓语动词用祈使语气(即动词原形),句尾一般用降调。祈使句有肯定和否定两种,如:
Stand up,please.起立。
Let's go to the park.我们去公园吧。
否定的祈使句是在动词前(即句首)加Don't.如:
Don't eat in class!不要在课堂上吃东西!
Don't swim in the river.不要在河里游泳。

In this period,we've learnt how to talk about some rules at school.First we learnt some rules by matching them with the correct pictures.Through learning the rules,we mastered the use of the imperative sentences and the modal verbs can and have to,which are a little difficult for us.Then we did some listening practice to consolidate the target language.Finally,we practiced using the imperative sentences and the modal verbs to talk about the rules by making a role-playing.
