Some
of
the
world’s
most
famous
musicians
recently
gathered
in
Paris
and
New
Orleans
to
celebrate
the
first
annual
International
Jazz
Day.
UNESCO(
United
Nations
Educational,
Scientific
and
Cultural
Organization)
recently
set
April
30
as
a
day
to
raise
awareness
of
jazz
music,
its
significance,
and
its
potential
as
a
unifying(联合)
voice
across
cultures.
Despite
the
celebrations,
though,
in
the
U.S.
the
jazz
audience
continues
to
shrink
and
grow
older,
and
the
music
has
failed
to
connect
with
younger
generations.
It’s
Jason
Moran’s
job
to
help
change
that.
As
the
Kennedy
Center’s
artistic
adviser
for
jazz,
Moran
hopes
to
widen
the
audience
for
jazz,
make
the
music
more
accessible,
and
preserve
its
history
and
culture.
“Jazz
seems
like
it’s
not
really
a
part
of
the
American
appetite,”
Moran
tells
National
Public
Radio’s
reporter
Neal
Conan.
“What
I’m
hoping
to
accomplish
is
that
my
generation
and
younger
start
to
reconsider
and
understand
that
jazz
is
not
black
and
white
anymore.
It’s
actually
color,
and
it’s
actually
digital.”
Moran
says
one
of
the
problems
with
jazz
today
is
that
the
entertainment
aspect
of
the
music
has
been
lost.
“The
music
can’t
be
presented
today
the
way
it
was
in
1908
or
1958.
It
has
to
continue
to
move,
because
the
way
the
world
works
is
not
the
same,”
says
Moran.
Last
year,
Moran
worked
on
a
project
that
arranged
Fats
Waller’s
music
for
a
dance
party,
“just
to
kind
of
put
it
back
in
the
mind
that
Waller
is
dance
music
as
much
as
it
is
concert
music,”
says
Moran.
“For
me,
it’s
the
recontextualization.
In
music,
where
does
the
emotion(情感)
lie
Are
we,
as
humans,
gaining
any
insight(感悟)
on
how
to
talk
about
ourselves
and
how
something
as
abstract
as
a
Charlie
Parker
record
gets
us
into
a
dialogue
about
our
emotions
and
our
thoughts
Sometimes
we
lose
sight
that
the
music
has
a
wider
context,”
says
Moran,
“so
I
want
to
continue
those
dialogues.
Those
are
the
things
I
want
to
foster.”

like
it’s
not
really
a
part
of
the
American
appetite,”
Moran
tells
National
Public
Radio’s
reporter
Neal
Conan.
“What
I’m
hoping
to
accomplish
is
that
my
generation
and
younger
start
to
reconsider
and
understand
that
jazz
is
not
black
and
white
anymore.
It’s
actually
color,
and
it’s
actually
digital.”
Moran
says
one
of
the
problems
with
jazz
today
is
that
the
entertainment
aspect
of
the
music
has
been
lost.
“The
music
can’t
be
presented
today
the
way
it
was
in
1908
or
1958.
It
has
to
continue
to
move,
because
the
way
the
world
works
is
not
the
same,”
says
Moran.
Last
year,
Moran
worked
on
a
project
that
arranged
Fats
Waller’s
music
for
a
dance
party,
“just
to
kind
of
put
it
back
in
the
mind
that
Waller
is
dance
music
as
much
as
it
is
concert
music,”
says
Moran.
“For
me,
it’s
the
recontextualization.
In
music,
where
does
the
emotion(情感)
lie
Are
we,
as
humans,
gaining
any
insight(感悟)
on
how
to
talk
about
ourselves
and
how
something
as
abstract
as
a
Charlie
Parker
record
gets
us
into
a
dialogue
about
our
emotions
and
our
thoughts
Sometimes
we
lose
sight
that
the
music
has
a
wider
context,”
says
Moran,
“so
I
want
to
continue
those
dialogues.
Those
are
the
things
I
want
to
foster.”

Imagine

are
on
a
cold
mountain
with
steep
rocks
around.As
you

air
gets
thinner
and
the
sun’s
rays
stronger.Just
before
you
reach
the
snowline,you
find
what
you
came
for—a
small
white
flower,the
edelweiss(火绒草),which
only
grows
in
alpine(高山的)
areas.
Plants
face
many
challenges
living
in
alpine
areas,and
only
200
kinds
of
plants
can
grow
there.Plants
rely
on
oxygen,water,and
sunlight
to
make
their
own
food
through
the
process
of
photosynthesis(光合作用).The
alpine
means
less
CO2,which
makes
the
process
more
difficult.It
also
brings
plants
closer
to
the
sun.The
sunlight
is
so
strong
that
it
can
burn
a
plant’s
leaves.There
is
little
water
here,so
the
soil
is
dry
and
rocky.You
also
won’t
find
high
trees
because
the
cold
wind
would
blow
them
over!
Alpine
plants
have
advantages
that
help
them
survive
the
bad
conditions.Like
all
alpine
plants,the
edelweiss
stays
close
to
the
ground
to
avoid
the
wind.The
cold
water
is
deep
underground,so
the
edelweiss
grows
very
deep
roots.Its
leaves
have
a
thick
covering,which
protects
the
plant
from
the
wind
and
the
sun’s
bright
rays.All
these
special
characteristics
help
it
grow,but
very
slowly.
The
edelweiss
can
live
in
the
conditions,but
humans
can’t.Climbing
in
the
high
and
cold
mountains
is
dangerous
and
difficult.This
is
why
the
edelweiss
became
such
a
special
flower.Long
ago,a
young
man
would
pick
an
edelweiss
flower
to
prove
his
love
to
a
girl,although
it
was
risky.Many
men
died
while
trying.Getting
the
flower
proved
that
the
man
was
physically
strong,brave,and
devoted.
Alpine
plants
can’t
spread
seeds,so
it’s
difficult
for
new
plants
to
grow.Once
all
the
edelweiss
flowers
are
gone
in
an
area,they
will
not
re grow.Governments
help
protect
the
edelweiss
because
it
is
considered
an
endangered
plant.

Our
team
beat
all
the
others.
Two
weeks
you
shall
have.
This
much
we
have
achieved,but
we
are
not
complacent.
He
ran
a
mile.
It
costs
twenty
dollars.
object)。
verb),常用的有answer,bring,buy,deny,do,fetch,find,get,promise,read,refuse,save,sell,send,show,sing,take,teach,tell,throw,wish,write等。
He
never
made
me
such
excuses.
I
gave
my
address
to
him.
He
threw
the
ball
to
me,not
to
Tom.
of,listen
to,insist
on,persist
in,yearn
for(怀念,渴望),aim
at,look
for,abide
by,account
for,agree
with,fall
behind,live
by,pay
for等。
care
of,pay
attention
fond
of,be
careful
about,be
angry
with,be
eager
for等。
She
is
always
ready
to
give
a
hand.
like,dislike,delay,escape,cannot
help,imagine,mind,miss,practise,cannot
stand等。
We
must
try
to
avoid
repeating
the
same
mistake.
Have
you
considered
looking
for
one
special
friend?
Do
you
feel
like
having
a
walk
with
me
after
supper?
People
couldn’t
help
laughing
at
the
foolish
man.
I
love
learning
about
new
things
from
politics,sports
and
music.
We
believe
that
many
more
people
will
prefer
to
travel
by
air.
在would
like/love/prefer之后,只能用不定式。
I’d
prefer
to
do
that
tomorrow.
I’d
like
to
do
some
shopping,but
not
during
the
day.
Oh,I
would
love
to
be
a
contestant.
Jazz
started
developing
in
the
1920s
in
the
Southern
United
States.
The
ship
started
to
leak
and
began
to
fill
with
water.
They
began
to
understand
how
important
the
forest
is.
I
was
beginning
to
wonder
if
it
was
easy
enough
to
go
on
the
climbing.
I’m
starting
to
put
on
weight
again.
I
remember
posting
the
letter.
I’ll
remember
to
post
the
letter.
I
shall
never
forget
seeing
the
famous
writer.
Don’t
forget
to
write
to
your
mother.
I
regret
missing
the
report.
I
regret
to
say
I
can’t
take
your
advice.
to
to
We
must
try
to
get
everything
done
in
time.
Let’s
try
doing
the
work
in
some
other
way.
I
didn’t
mean
to
make
you
angry.
Your
plan
would
mean
spending
hours.
(5)go
on
doing与go
on
to
do。
go
on
doing继续做一直在做的事;
go
on
to
Please
go
on
doing
the
same
exercise.
Please
go
on
to
do
the
other
exercise.
(6)stop
doing与stop
to
do。
stop
doing停止做;
stop
to
We
stopped
talking.
We
stopped
to
talk.
These
methods
apply
to
learning
English.
I
apologize
for
being
so
angry
with

thinking
of
moving
to
America.
She
was
very
interested
in
working
for
our
company.
to,object
to,pay
attention
to,get
down
to,lead
to,look
forward
to,stick
to,be
used
to等。

be
your
qualifications与recognize

not
require
a
college

eq
\a\vs4\al()
so...that.../such...that...
(2)在many,few,much,little(表示数量)前只能用so,不能用such来修饰。
such+a/an+adj.+n.可以转化成:so+形容词+a/an+n.。
(4)so
