Teaching procedures 教学过程
Step 1. Free talk
T: Hello, boys and girls. Today we’ll learn Project 2 A travel book. I like traveling. Do you like traveling?
S1: ...
T:I will show you some photos ,and you guess what places I visited.
Do you know where I went?...I visited three cities in Yunnan:Kunming,Dali and Lijiang.
T: Where did you go last year?
S1: ...
T: Wow, that’s wonderful. By the way, what’s the date today?
S2: It’s the 6th of June.
T: The summer holiday is coming soon. Do you have any plans for your summer holiday?
Step 2. Let’s talk
T: What do you want to be in the future? And why?
S7: I want to be a dentist because many children don’t care about their teeth. I want to help them.
S8: I want to be a pianist because music makes people happy.
S9: I want to be a traveler because I can see a lot and learn a lot.
T: Good. This is William. He has been to many cities. I’ll show some photos of them.
Step 3. Quick response
T: Maybe the photos will be helpful for you to make your summer plan. Now look at the screen, please say the name of the city as quickly as possible. And then tell which country the city is in?
T: How beautiful these pictures are! How wonderful these cities are! I want to visit them. If I want to visit one of them, what should I do before I go?
S10: Find information about it.
T: What kind of Information?
S11: You should learn about the weather there, interesting places you can go to and nice food to eat.
T: Excellent!
T:My favorite city is Sanya,Do you know why?(PPT shows pictures)
Step 4. Brainstorming
T: Let’s have some brainstorming. This is Beijing. How’s the weather in Beijing?
S12: It’s hot in summer. It’s very cold in winter.
T: What interesting places will we see in Beijing?
S13: We’ll see interesting places like the Palace Museum, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, and the Bird’s Nest. (此处如果是在课堂上,学生一定会说更多景点,遇到不会说的除了老师告之还可以鼓励学生课后查阅网络或词典)
T: What food will we eat there?
S14: We’ll eat roast duck and many yummy snacks.
T: Good job! What do you know Hong Kong?
S15: Hong Kong is in China.
T: How’s the weather in Hong Kong?
S16: It’s hot and wet in summer. In winter it is not very cold.
T: What interesting places will we see in Hong Kong?
S17: We’ll see Victoria Harbour, Disneyland and Ocean Park.
T: What food will we eat there?
S18: We’ll eat sweet and sour pork, Hong Kong-Style Milk Tea and a lot of snacks like wontons.
Step 5. Pair work
T: After finishing writing, please work in pairs. Ask and answer questions abut your favourite city. Use the sentence patterns on the screen.
Step 6. Stick and write
T: If we put all the information of your favourite cities together, it’ll be a beautiful travel book. Boys and girls, do you want to make a class travel book?
S: Yes, we do.
T: Now let’s learn to make one.
First, stick the photos together like this.
Then write down the information of the city.
Step 9. Make in groups
T: Please work in groups of four. Each of you write about one city, your favorite city.
T: Or you can draw a mind map with the introduction of your favorite city like this. One student one page. Then put your group members’ pages together. That also makes a travel book.
Step 10. Show-and-tell
T: OK. Please show the travel book made by your group. It’s time to show, and it’s time to enjoy. Please get ready for show-and-tell in turns. I hope the reporters can speak loudly, and others listen quietly. If you have questions, you can ask after they finish.

Step 11. Ticking time

T: Someone says, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” The summer holiday is coming. It’s travel time again. Enjoy your summer holiday. And don’t forget to share your trip with us!
