U5Writing Endangered Animals

Students finish the exercises by themselves.
Polar bears
Polar bears are very big white bears.
Home
Polar bears live in the snow and ice near the North Pole(北极). There are no polar bears at the South Pole. At the North Pole, there is only snow, ice and water. There is not any land. People cannot see polar bears in the snow very well because their coats are yellow-white. They have very warm coats because the weather is cold in the north of the Arctic Circle.
Appearance
Polar bears have long face and small, round ears. Polar bears are three meters long, and they weigh about 450 kilos. They can stand up on their back legs because they have very wide feet. They can use their front legs like arms. A female polar bear gives birth to one to four cubs at a time in the winter and the cubs stay with their mother for up to three years.
Behaviour
Polar bears are usually shy. They go into the sea when they are afraid. However, they are known to be dangerous when attacked. Polar bears can swim very well. They can swim 120 kilometers out into the water. They catch fish and sea animals for food.
Life
Polar bears can live for about 25 years in the wild, but in zoos they can live for up to 35 years.
The future
Polar bears are endangered because some people want to kill them for their beautiful white coat. The number of polar bears declined(减少) from several hundredthousand to a few hundred in a few years. People do not want all of these beautifulanimals to die. To protect them, the governments of the United States and Russia saythat no one is allowed to kill polar bears now.

Home、Appearance、Behaviour、Life and future.
而且学生能从文章中提炼词汇和句型,如:live in ...; people can find... in ...。
