In many countries, people have birthday cakes with candles. The number of candles is the person's age. The birthday person must make a wish and blow out the candles. If he or she blows out all the candles in one go, the wish will come true. In the UK, people sometimes put a candy in a birthday cake. The child with the candy is lucky.
In China, it is getting popular to have cake on your birthday. But many people still eat very long noodles for their birthday. They never cut up the noodles because the long noodles are a symbol of long life. In some places, Chinese people also eat eggs on their birthday. They are a symbol of life and good luck. on在这里用作时间介词。on的具体用法如下:
①表示“在具体的某一天”或“在(具体某一天的)早上
、下午、晚上”等,须用介词on。
例:He was born on May 5th,1985.
他生于1985年5月5日。

他们是在一个雨天的早上来的。
He went back to Shenyang on a summer afternoon.
他于一个夏天的下午返回了沈阳。②表示“在星期几”或“在星期几的早上、下午、晚

3.The answer would be different in different countries. 
(1)answer在此作名词,意为“答案”,是可数名词。
常见搭配:answer to... ……的答案。
例:This is my answer to this question.
这是我对这个问题的答案。
(2)different 是形容词,意为“不同的”。其后的名词
用复数形式。常用短语:be different from 与……不
同。
例:Everyone is different from others.
每个人都与其他人不一样。4. The number of the candles is the person’s age. (1)the number of 意为“……的数目/总数”,当其作主语时,谓语动词应用单数形式。
例: The number of the students in our class is thirty.
我们班里学生的数目是三十。

a number of 意为“很多的;大量的”后跟可数名词复数形式。
例:A number of people are in the park today. 今天有很很多人在公园里。(2)age意为“年龄”。常用短语:at
the age of 在……岁时。

5. If he or she blows out all the candles in one go, the wish will come true.
(1)blow out意为“吹灭”。这个词组是由“动词+副词”构成的,其宾语如果是代词,要放在blow与out之间;宾语如果是名词,要放在out之后。例:This is a candle.Please blow it out.
这是一根蜡烛,请把它吹灭。 (2)in one go 意为“同一次,一次性地”,其中
的介词还可用at,即at one go。
例:You can’t do the work all in one go.
你不可能一次把工作都干完。
(3)come true 表示愿望、梦想等的“实现”或“成为现实”。
例:Make a wish, and it can really come true.
许个愿,它一定会实现的。

lucky形容词,意为“幸运的”;而luck是名词,意为“运气”。
