Water is very important to living things. Without water, there will be no life on the Earth. All animals and plants need water. People also need water. But the world is thirsty for water. You may be surprised because nearly 70% of the Earth's surface is covered with water. But 97% of that is sea water, or salty water. People can only drink and use the other 3%. And we cannot ever use all of it, because people pollute some of it. There are many places in the world where are still poor in water, so we should make good use of water on the Earth.
We should take action to stop wasting our valuable water. The best way is to reuse it. Today in most countries, water is used only once and then is sent into a sewage plant (污水处理厂). From there, it returns to the sea or underground places. We can also make use of sea water in the world. If we try our best to save water, we won't be in danger of drying up.

Everyone knows there are things they should or shouldn't do to help the environment. Here are some tips for travelling green.
Turn off your appliances (家用电器)
Many TVs, DVD players, computers, tape-recorders, etc. drain (消耗) electricity even when they are not in use. Make sure that the air conditioner is off while you are away in the hot weather.
Think before you buy
Do not buy things you do not use often, such as tents and beach chairs. Try to borrow them from your friend as possible. When your trip ends, give maps and guidebooks to other travellers, or leave them at the hotel for future guests.
Treat your hotel like your house
Turn off the lights when you leave, and while you are out, turn off the air conditioner too. When you take a shower, do not take too long. Wherever you are, saving water is our duty.
Ditch the car
Walking, riding a bike, and taking public transportation are all better than riding in a car.
Speak up
If you are not pleased, take a moment to write down your disappointment. It can encourage companies to work better.

Playing is serious business for children. In fact, it's what they do best! Ask them why they do it, and kids will probably say, “Because it's fun!” But it's much more than that. It's also good for them.
Studies show that babies begin learning through playing. They use their five senses to get to know their new world. Touching allows them to discover how different things feel. Brightly coloured toys and clothing help develop a baby's sense of sight.
When small children choose which toy to play with, they begin developing their abilities in making decisions.
Children love toys that allow them to use their imagination. Sometimes an empty box is more fun than a high-tech toy. That's because a box can become anything a child imagines it to be.
Crayons, paints and Play-Doh (彩色塑泥) are also good because they allow children to create. Traditional building blocks teach them important pre-math skills like problem-solving.
Playing doesn't become any less important once children start school. Many valuable lessons about life are learned on the school playground. Kids learn how to share, take turns and play by the rules.

The proper ways for students to relax
I am monitor of Class 3, Grade 8, No. 2 Middle School. Recently I have made a survey of the students in my class on the ways to relax after class.
There are sixty students in my class. Different students have different ways to relax. Half of the students often watch TV. Twelve students like to play computer games while eight students enjoy listening to music. Five students think doing sports is a good way and another five are too busy to relax.
I think taking exercise is a proper way because it can rest our brains and eyes. It can also help improve our health.
