In Canada you can find dogs, cats, horses, and other animals in almost every family. These are their pets. People love these pets and have them as their friends. They think animals can make them relaxed. They have special animal food stores, though they can get animal food in almost every store. Some people spend around two hundred Canadian dollars a month on animal food. When you visit people’s homes, they would be very glad to show you their pets and they are proud of them. You will also find that almost every family has a bird feeder in their garden.
Any kind of birds are welcomed to come and have a good meal. They are free to come and go.
People in Canada have many reasons to like animals. One of them might be: Their family tie is not as close as ours. When the children grow up, they leave their parents and start their own life. April 22 is the Earth Day. People all over the world celebrate this important day. The idea began in the 1960s. Life was very different then. Few people talked or even thought about the environment. Most people had no idea how dirty our air and water were.
On April 22, 1970, twenty million Americans joined the first Earth Day activities. They showed that people really wanted to do something for the environment. Since then laws(法律) have been passed to protect the air, water, land and animals.
Now the celebration has spread to other countries. More than 175 countries take part in it each year. In 2007, people in China paid much attention to a big problem. People were throwing away 27 million plastic bags a day! People had “Bye-Bye Throwaway Culture Week”. They
wanted everyone to see how polluted it was to throw away so many plastic bags. In 2008, China passed new laws.

We must save forests
Nowadays there are fewer and fewer forests in the world. Maybe in 20 years we’ll have no forests. So forests are in danger! Forests are important to all the living things on the Earth. They provide food and shelter for both animals and plants. They also provide people with wood and food. We must save forests! I will learn to protect forests. I’ll plant more trees with my classmates every year. I’ll use both sides of the paper. I’ll also tell other people to use handkerchiefs. If everyone takes action to protect forests, forests will give us more and our life will be better.
