that 无任何词义,只起连接作用,目的是使读者清楚后面的句子是作前面动词的宾语,that常可省略。

不论什么情况下,宾语从句都要用陈述语序,即“主语+谓语+其它”。
1. that引导的宾语从句,当主句是现在时, 从句可以根据实际情况采用任何时态。
1) He says (that) they have returned already.
他说他们已经回来了。
2) He tells me that he was born in 1985.
他告诉我他生于1985年。
2.主句用过去时态,从句要用过去时态的某种形式(一般过去时,过去进行时,过去将来时,过去完成时)。
1) He said (that) he bought a new dictionary.
他说他买了本新词典。
2) I knew they were studying English.
我知道他们正在学英语。
3. 如果从句表达的是客观事实、真理、自然现象、名言、警句、格言、谚语等等,尽管主句用过去时态,从句也要用一般现在时。
1) Our teacher told us that light travels faster than sound.
我们老师告诉我们,光比声音传播得快。
2) He said that time is life.
他说时间就是生命。
think,?believe,?suppose, guess等动词作主句的谓语,且主句的主语是第一人称 I 或we时,宾语从句的否定词not习惯上要转移到主句中,即“否定转移”。?
I believe he will not do such a silly thing.
→I?don’t?believe?that?he?will?do?such?a?silly?thing.?
我相信他不会做如此愚蠢的事。

The trip to Beijing
Mary had a great vacation last weekend. She went to Beijing with her family. First, they went to Tian’anmen Square. There were lots of visitors there. Then they visited Beijing zoo. The animals there were very interesting. Next, they went to Wangfujing Street. After lunch, they climbed the famous Great Wall. They met some foreign tourists
there. They talked and took photos together.
They really had a good time. They look forward to travelling in Beijing again.
