Step Ⅰ Leading in
1.Greet students and check homework.
2. Show a video and play the game: listen to songs and guess what kind of music it is.
3. Give brief introduction of jazz, light music, rock, classical, pop music and so on,
4. Pair work: What kind of music do you like?
Step Ⅱ Presentation
1a.This part is designed to introduce a new topic,someone’s favorite singer or musician.
Give students several minutes to do this free talk.Call attention to the tense.
Then,invite some volunteers to describe their favorite singers or musicians.
1b.This activity gives students practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversations.Read the instructions.
T:Watch a video, .What can you see in the video?
Ss: We can see a band.
Introduce some more bands.
T:Yes,let students do some listening practice about the band.First,read the opinion,then listen and write the answers.
Play the tape.The first time students only listen.Play the tape the second time.Ask students to listen to the tape again and write A for Alex or D for Dave next to each opinion.
Check the answers with the class.
1c.T:Listen again.You will hear the same tape again and take notes about The Toms after listening.
Have students talk about The Toms with the information.
