I. Teaching Aims
1.Knowledge&Skills:
1)Master the words-----improve, skill, meeting, act, useful, role, team, shape, level, pool
2)Get to know the words---thinking , challenge
3)Understand the expressions----improve one’s thinking/social skills, have fun=have a good time, at the same time ,stay in shape,
meet lots of new people, do lots of role play games
4)Train the reading skills.

1)Be able to get the useful information by reading fast,
2)Describe the clubs they want to join.
3)Design a poster for a club by cooperating with group members.
4)Summarize what they have learnt by drawing a mind map.

V. Teaching Procedures:
Step I Warming up
1) Divide the students into four groups and tell them the rules of competition.
2) Greet students by having a free talk, then show three pictures to let students guess the teacher’s after---school activities.
At the same time, learn the words and phrases: useful, improve, stay in shape.
Step II Presentation
1.Pre-reading
1)list some pictures of clubs , and then ask and answer:
------What club do you want to join? Why?
------I want to join the …… because I can……
2) Play the matching game in order to let students get to know the passage for the first time.
During this part, learn the following target languages: join, team, act, role.
2.While-reading
1)Group work
Students work in groups to complete the chart by reading quickly.

3.Post-reading
