have a problem with意为“和……之间有问题/麻烦;与……之间产生了矛盾”。

2. We got separated when we went to different schools last term, but we stayed in touch.上学期我们去了不同的学校,我们分开了,但我们保持着联系。
(1) get separated意为“分开”,是终止性动词短语,不能与一段时间连用。
be separated意为“分开”,表示状态,可以与一段时间连用。
They got separated two weeks ago.他们两周之前分开了。
They have been separated since two weeks ago.
他们自从两周之前就分开了。
stay in touch意为“保持联系”,相当于keep in touch,其后可接with sb. 表
示“与某人保持联系”。
I stayed in touch with my old friends. 我与我的老朋友保持着联系。

explain动词,意为“解释,说明”。
explain sth. to sb.意为“向某人解释某事”。

Could I …?是一个礼貌请求的句型,could是情态动词,并非表示过去,
相当于Can I …?句型。回答时不能用could,而用can。

是的,当然可以。/对不起,恐怕不行。
(2)mention sth. to sb. 意为“向某人提及某事”。
I mentioned this idea to my mum, but she didn’t agree.
我把这个想法跟妈妈提起过,但是她不同意。
5. Yes, but she refused to listen.是的,但是她拒绝听。
refuse动词,意为“拒绝”,refuse to do sth.意为“拒绝做某事”,动词不定式短语作宾语。
She refused to answer our question.她拒绝回答我们的问题。
【拓展】常接动词不定式(短语)作宾语的动词有:
want, refuse, forget, remember, need, try, learn, hope, decide, begin, start, promise等。

(1) be patient with意为“对……有耐心”。

1. No one knew me. 没有人认识我。
no one意为“没有人”,相当于nobody,用来指人,不指物,其后通常不接of短语。no one作主语时,谓语动词通常用单数。
No one knew that he came from a poor family.
没有人知道,他来自一个很穷的家庭。
[拓展]none 形容词,意为“没有一人;没有一个;一点儿也没有”,可以与of短语连用。
None of us has been to Hainan.我们中没有人去过海南。

2. I was very lonely, and afraid to make friends with anyone.我很孤独,不敢与任何人交朋友。
be afraid to do sth.意为“不敢做某事”。be afraid of doing sth.意为“害怕做某事”。
My sister is afraid to go out alone at night.
我妹妹不敢在晚上独自出去。
The boy is shy and he is afraid of speaking before class.

3. Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing, I felt even more lonely. 每次我听到其他同学又说又笑,我感到更加孤独了。
(1)every time表示“每次”,在此引导一个时间状语从句,相当于each time。

(2)even副词,意为“甚至”,用于修饰比较级。much,a lot,a little,a bit 等词(组)也常用来修饰比较级,表示不同的程度。

if / whether及疑问词引导的宾语从句
一、if / whether引导的宾语从句
当谓语动词表示疑问的概念,如“想知道”“问”时,后面的宾语从句含有“是” 或“不是” 两种情况,这时用if或whether来引导宾语从句。if或whether表示“是否”,不可以省略。
He asks me if / whether the Spring Festival always comes in February.
他问我春节是不是总在二月到来。
My sister wanted to know whether she could join the Basketball Club or not. 我姐姐想知道她是否可以加入篮球俱乐部。
[注意]
如果宾语从句中引导词后没有or not,宾语从句用if和whether引导都可以,但引导词后有or not的话,必须用whether,构成whether or not结构。
Lingling asked Tony whether or not he could help her with her English.
玲玲问托尼他是不是可以帮她学习英语。
二、疑问词引导的宾语从句
疑问词what, where, how, when, why等也可以引导宾语从句,分别表示“什么”“哪儿”“怎么”“什么时间”“为什么”等,它们有具体含义并在宾语从句中充当句子成分,所以不能省略。
He asked me what I was doing then. 他问我那时在干什么。
They have not decided where they should go for the holiday.
他们还没有决定到什么地方去度假。
三、疑问语序与陈述语序
宾语从句必须用陈述语序。
How do you usually spend your weekend? 你通常怎样过周末?
(助动词在主语前面,构成疑问语序)
Tony asked how I usually spent my weekend. 托尼问我通常怎样过周末。 (主语在前,谓语动词在后,构成陈述语序)
