Step 1.Lead in
Ask students :
Do you like music ? What music do you like ?
Can you dance ?
Step 2. New words
realize v.认识到;实现
rich adj.丰富的;富有的
Western adj.西方的;西式的
violin n. 小提琴
dancer n.跳舞的人
First ,make sure students can read the new words correctly ,then let them do some exercises about the new words .
Exercise 1、根据汉语提示完成单词.
???1.My brother could play the _______(小提琴)at the age of 8.
?2.After class,she _______(意识到)that she made a mistake.
?3.The violin is a _______(西方的)instrument.
?4.Bill Gates is very _______(富有的)in the world.

Step 3. Listening
Let the students listen to the tape carefully ,and try to tick the right answer .
1. What did Li Ming realize on his trip to the Silk Road ?
A. China has a long history and rich culture.
B. China is very big.
2. What instrument does Li Ming want to learn ?
A.He wants to learn to play the erhu.
B.He wants to learn to play the violin.
3. What will Wang Mei learn ?
A. A traditional Chinese dance.
B. A traditional Chinese song.
Then ,check the answers together.
Step 4. Reading
Ask the students to read the dialogue by themselves ,and right true (T) or false (F) .
( ) 1. Many Western people call the erhu the“Chinese violin”.
( ) 2. Wang Mei is a good singer.
( ) 3. Li Ming and Wang Mei will sing and dance at the Spring Festival show.
Then ,ask several students to give their answers and check the answers together.
Step 5.Phrases and language points
1.Give students the Chinese meaning of the phrases ,ask them to find them in the text.
思考,考虑 think about
拉二胡 play the erhu
参加 take part in、
学习多某事 learn to do sth.、
迫不及待做某事 can't wait to do sth.。
一个好主意 a great idea
Ask the students to read the phrases together ,try to remember them .
2.Explain the language points of the text.
(1).Why don't you learn a traditional Chinese dance?你为什么不学一个中国传统舞蹈?
Why don't you do sth.?你为什么不做某事?表达个人的建议和看法。也可以简单说:Why not do sth.?
e.g. It's nearly noon.Why don't you get up early ?
It's nearly noon.Why not get up early ?
(2). I hope so. 我希望如此。
1).表示希望前面的情况发生。如果不希望前面提 到的事发生,可说I hope not.。
—The radio says it will rain tomorrow.
—I hope not. I want to have a picnic with my friends.
——收音机说明天会下雨。
——我希望别下。我想和朋友去野餐。
2).类似用法还有:I’m afraid so. 恐怕是这样。I’m afraid not. 恐怕不是这样。
Step 6.Practice
Ask the student to do the following exercise in pairs, then every pair choose a volunteer to check the answers.
Exercise 2、根据句意,用所给的适当形式填空.

???3.Why don't you _______(take)part in the Spring Festival show?

Step 7.Retell the text。
Li Ming and Wang Mei are walking home from school. Li Ming is still ______ about their trip to the Silk Road. He _____ many things. China has so _____ history. And our culture is so _____ and ______ . The trip gave Li Ming an _____ . He wants to learn to _____ the erhu. Many Western people call it the “ Chinese ______”.Wang Mei wants to learn a ______Chinese dance. Then they can _____ ______in the Spring Festival show together. Li Ming will play music and Wang Mei can _____. What a great idea!
Step 8.Work in pairs
What is your talent? When did you start to develop this talent? Where and How practice your talent?
Let the students discuss in pairs ,then give them a famous saying :
Everything happens for a reason.这个世界没有偶然。
Educate the students :If you are good at something,you should practice it everyday and you will be success.
Step 9.Homework
Write a short passage about something you are good at. Present it to the class and show your classmates what you can do.
