We often focus on building relationships with others but we forget the important first step:being friends of ourselves._1_.How can we have good relationships with others if we don't even have good relationships with ourselves?
The problem might be worse than we expect.Maybe we don't like ourselves without realizing it.Here is a simple checklist:Is there anything you don't like about yourself from these lists?
Your past:Maybe you have made mistakes in the past which you feel bad about._2_.Even if that happened in the distant past, your mind still has a reason not to like yourself.

_5_.Here are some tips:
Forgive yourself.
Accept things you can't change.
Focus on your strengths.
Write your success stories.
Stop comparing yourself with others.
Always be true to yourself.
A.Sometimes you might not believe yourself
B.You can do something to improve the relationships with others
C.Fortunately, there are always things you can do to fix the situation
D.Maybe you could not accept the fact that you are not as lucky as others
E.You might be disappointed with yourself on why you made such mistakes

Chinese people are, quite rightly, proud of their food. However, when foreigners like Britons and Americans think of Chinese food, their impression of it is different to what you might think.
Growing up in the UK,the Chinese food I was used to eating was food I now recognize as being from Guangdong. For example,a typical dish I would order would be pork in sweet and sour sauce(酱汁),probably with some rice and spring rolls on the side. This is the type of food we generally eat because most Chinese immigrants (移民) to the UK have come from Guangdong. You can tell, because when most British people try to copy the sound of Chinese, they actually copy the sound of Guangdong people—hearing the real putonghua is sometimes a shock to British people who have grown up thinking it sounds completely different!
British attitudes to Chinese food may be changing, though.Chinese?American chef Ken Hom has been on British TV for 30 years, and he told BBC Food,“Chinese food at the beginning of the 80s (in the UK) was sweet and sour pork, mainly. Most Brits had the unchangeable view of Chinese food...Now you are seeing more local Chinese food from Sichuan,Hunan and other areas of China. It is no longer just Guangdong food.” Similarly,to most Americans,Chinese food doesn't go too far past orange chicken and fortune cookies, but more Chinese local dishes are becoming successful, especially in big cities like New York.
Attitudes have not quite changed completely, though. Many foreigners who live in China will be familiar with this question from a relative back at home,“Have they given you dog meat yet?” Yes,perhaps because people still know too little about Chinese culture, many people believe that Chinese people love to eat dog meat. And of course, some people do eat dogs, which to Americans is like “eating a member of one's family” according to Vision Times. Also,Chinese people eat many other things people in the West do not—chicken claws, duck heads and some animals' organs.
But what do foreigners think when they come to China and taste real Chinese food? You'll be glad to know that in my experience, and the impressions have been very good.

Ⅰ.阅读理解

(2018·双流中学高一期中)
What is the difference between developed and developing countries? The question is quite a difficult one.But we can compare them in two important aspects:people and the economy.
In developing countries there are high rates of both birth and death.Families decide to give birth to more than one child, because many developing countries do not have the necessary systems to guarantee (保证) the life of old people.Raising more children seems to be the only way to make sure that during their later years they will be taken care of.
The situation is completely different in fully?developed countries. Those countries have low rates of birth and mortality. The low mortality rate lies mainly in the good health care, while the leading reason for the low birth rate is that supporting a family with more children is expensive nowadays.Another reason is that more and more women decide to work outside,so there is usually no time for a large group of children in their lives.
In developed countries, most industries have high levels of technological progress, while in developing countries most GDP comes from agriculture. It is mainly due to the fact that services and many branches(分部) of industry are in the stage of development. But they have the potential (潜力) to develop quickly, because they have many things to improve.
Of course, the difference between developed and developing countries is not that clear, because some countries might be in the middle of great changes. When a country is in that stage, some data can show the country is a developing one,but others may show that it is a developed one.

Since 1985,Johnny Jennings,86, has been selling newspaper and magazines to a recycling center with his son to raise his savings account(账户).By the time Jennings' only child was 17,he had stopped joining his father, but the money they made covered the down payment for his first home years later.
Even though his son is grown?up now,Jennings hasn't slowed down his efforts.Jennings visits local churches and businesses to collect paper, which he brings to a recycling center for money. But instead of putting those earnings in his own bank account,he sends every dollar to Georgia Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries.Once a year,he gives the organization a check between $10,000 and $35,000.By 2016,that had reached $400,000.
Jennings devoted himself to helping Georgia Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries after his first visit there when he was 18.“When we were about to leave, these three little boys grabbed me by the knees and said,‘Will you be my daddy?’” Jennings told Today.“And I said I would do what I could. That took my heart right there.”
These days,Jennings' recycling has turned into a community effort.Community members drop off other recyclables at his house so he can sell them, along with books, food, clothes, and other items to give away.
Recycling centers typically pay just one and a half to three cents per pound of paper, but in 2016 alone,he sold more than 400,000 pounds of paper and 51,000 cans, and collected more than 32,000 pennies.Over the course of 32 years he's recycled more than 9.8 million pounds of paper, saving about 79,000 trees in the process.“He is the last of a dying breed (种类),”wrote Jennings' friend in a Facebook post.“Our generation and the ones to follow could learn a lot from Mr.Jennings.”
