Teaching aims:
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. Knowledge aims:
1) Read, understand and use the new words and phrases e.g. describe, build, ago, army, clay, soldiers, important, tool, desert, more, Lily, a long time ago, try one’s best, Well done, a little bit, make…from…
2) understand Danny’s descriptions about the Terra Cotta Warriors, the camel and the silk.
3) learn how to describe some places and things they have ever seen, especially in China.
2. Ability aims:
1) individually read the whole text and extract key information about the Terra Cotta Warriors, the camel and the silk.
2) cooperate with their pair partners and their group members to practice describing some places and things.
3. Emotion aims:
1) know ancient China has such rich and colorful culture and so many famous places of interest and modern China is also constantly making new achievements.
2) inspire their own patriotic feelings for China.

I. Lead-in:
1. Watch a video about Xi’an.
