《英语课程标准》(2011年版)指出学生在初二阶段能有明确的学习需要和目标,对英语学习表现出较强的自信心。 能在所设日常交际情境中听懂对话和小故事。能用简单的语言描述自己或他人的经历,能表达简单的观点。能读懂常见文体的小短文和相应水平的英文报刊文章。能合作起草和修改简短的叙述、说明、指令、规则等。能尝试使用不同的教育资源,从口头和书面材料中提取信息、扩展知识、解决简单的问题并描述结果。能在学习中相互帮助,克服困难。能合理计划和安排学习任务,积极探索适合自己的学习方法学习和日常交际中能注意到中外文化的异同。 另外,《课标》还建议,“各种语言知识的呈现和学习都应从语言使用的角度出发,为提升学生用英语做事情的能力服务。教师要通过创设接近实际生活的各种语境,采用循序渐进的语言实践活动,以及各种强调过程与结果并重的教学途径和方法,培养学生用英语做事情的能力。”本节课是一节阅读课,学生先通过观看Guinness World Records的视频和读前的Free Talk,从而自然地引入话题并完成关于本节课中所提到的记录的表格,获取细节信息;再根据教师所给出的关键词进行复述,最后结合本班实际讨论班级之最。正符合了《课标》中“使学生在语言实践活动中,通过接触、理解、操练、运用语言等环节,逐步实现语言知识的内化,学会用英语获取、处理和传递信息,表达简单的个人观点和感受,从而提升实际语言运用的能力”等要求。
教学内容分析
本课是冀教版英语八年级下册第六单元第一课时My Favourite Record,本单元主要是围绕奥运会和世界纪录来展开话题,通过本单元的学习,使学生了解有关奥运会的发展历史和世界纪录的相关情况,乐于接触并了解异国文化。在学习过程中,应该让学生能够对自己感兴趣的人物或事件,勇敢地用英语表达自己的看法,感受奥运健儿和世界纪录的创造者那种努力拼搏、不断超越自己的精神。Lesson 32 主要是由世界纪录延伸到班级纪录这一话题,让学生通过阅读获取Danny的班级纪录和Li Ming的纪录,并进行复述,之后让学生谈论自己熟悉的班级之最,在此过程中培养他们敢于用英语表达自己熟悉人物的能力,感受他们积极乐观、努力进取的精神,并不断超越自己。本节课的学习既是本单元的开始,同时又为下面了解有关奥运会的发展历史等内容的学习打下基础。
学情分析
自然情况本节课的教学对象是雄县第二中学八年级11班的学生。班里的大多数学生思维活跃,学习兴趣较为浓厚,乐于进行课堂讨论,表达自己的观点,并具有合作精神。已有基础学生在此之前已经学习过一般现在时,形容词的比较级和最高级的用法以及一些表达积极情绪的词汇如:happy,proud, amazed;同时,在平时的阅读活动中绝大部分学生能在教师指导下使用一定的阅读策略,获取文章信息。存在不足学生的词汇量有限,尚不能用丰富的词汇来表达自己的积极情绪。此外,学生理解文章大意没有问题,但是对于文章细节的把握,还需教师的引导。解决措施(1)引导学生从阅读文本中获得表达积极情绪的词汇,并加以整理。(2)在语言输入环节需要教师有效地为学生搭设台阶,通过复述文本的主要记录和讨论本班的班级记录逐步实现自主运用。
教学目标
At the end of the class, students will be able to:get the information about the records in Danny’s and Li Ming’s e-mails. guess and understand the meaning of the new words by pictures and physical display and try to use them to retell the text. retell the records according to the key words, discuss and write down the records in the class. have the spirit of positive and hard-working and try to make progress.
教学重点和难点
Teaching focus:Reading for gist and specific information about the records in Danny’s and Li Ming’s e-mails..Guessing and understanding the meaning of the new words by pictures and physical display and trying to use them to retell. Retelling the story according to the key words., discuss and write the records in the class. Possible difficulties:Students may have difficulties retelling the story naturally because they may lack experiences in using the language in real contexts.

Step 1 Ask the students to read Para1 quickly of the two e-mails and answer the two questions.Q1: What did Danny’s class made in school this week? Q2: How did Li Ming feel when he heard that a man pulled a train with his teeth?Show the answers on the PowerPoint. (While checking the answers, the teacher introduces new words, such as“weigh”,“kilo”by pictures and further explanation. Read Para1 of the two e-mails quickly and choose the answers.. Check the answers in class. Get the gist of the text. Guess and understand the meaning of new words. 2mins
Step 2 Ask the students to read the e-mails carefully and finish the chart.Show the answers on the PowerPoint.(While checking the answers, the teacher introduces the new words“thick”,“photograph”“lift”,“several”by physical display.) Complete the chart individually and check the answers in groups.Check the answers in class. Stage 4—Post-reading

Step 2 Ask students to talk in groups, find out who holds each record in their class. Then interview their feelings in class. Talk in groups and finish the left part.
