Part One: Analysis of the Teaching Materials (教材分析)
1.Lesson type :reading
2.Status and function
Lesson 33 is the third lesson of unit6.This unit focuses on the Olympics. Language function is to talk about the Olympics. Lesson 33 is about the history of the Olympics. So it’s one of the important parts of the unit.
3.Teaching aims
1.) Knowledge objects (认知目标).
a)Master the phrases :complete against , take place ,in a spirit of ,at the highest level, every four years
b)learn about the history of the Olympics.
2.)Ability objects
a)To improve the students reading .
b) To cultivate their ability to discover,analyze and solve problems.
3.)Emotional objects
a)Trough competition, let Ss experience the joy of learning English .
b) By working in groups, let Ss learn to co-operate with others
4.Teaching important points(教学重点)
a) Master the phrases: complete against , take place ,in a spirit of ,at the highest level, every four years
b) Retell the history of the Olympics
5.Teaching difficult points(教学难点)
How to improve the Ss’ reading ability.
Part Two: Teaching methods (教法)
1.Multi-media teaching . It can help the students be interested in the lesson and learn the lesson happily and easily.
2.Competition and encouragement
3.“Task-based” teaching method.
“Task-based” language teaching is an effective and advanced teaching approach. It’s widely used in many different countries.
Part Three: Learning methods
Get the students to form good learning habits .Such as :Co-operation and competition. Students will learn to co-operate and compete with each other by working in groups.
Part Four: Teaching Aids (教具)
Multi- media computer, courseware ,text book.
Part Five: Analysis of the students
The students are in Grade Eight now, and they have some interests of learning and speaking English , they are willing to co-operate and communicate with others in class, especially most of the students are interested in the Olympics. In addition, the Ss in Grade Eight have already had certain language reserves. So I think it’s easy for them to learn the lesson and they will take an active part in the activities in class .
Part Six: Teaching procedures (教学过程)
Step 1. Lead in
Sing a song ---the five-ring to lead in the new lesson.
T: What does the song remind of you?
Ss: The five-ring flag.
T:Do you know it is the symbol of …
Ss: The Olympics.
Show the topic of Lesson 33 (2800 years of sports)
T:Form the topic ,do you know what we are going to learn today?
Ss: The history of the Olympics
Step 2 Pre-reading
T:What do you know about the Olympics?
students can say anything about the Olympics.
(设计意图:其一,意在练习学生的口语技能。其二对下面环节做语言储备工作,同时也用来导入新课。)
Step 3While-reading
Task 1: Skimming:
Read the lesson quickly and match the questions with the answers
Give Ss 3 minutes to read the passage and try to find some simple and main ideas .
(设计意图:培养学生快速阅读获取文章主旨大意的能力。)
Task 2:Scanning
1)Read the passage carefully and finish the table
Give Ss 5 minutes to read the passage more carefully and try to find more details.
(设计意图:设计的阅读任务是学生必须通过仔细阅读,认真思考后才能得到答案。旨在培养学生阅读思考的能力 。)
2)Difficult sentences
Show difficult sentences on the screen and help the students to understand them .
Task 3:Fill in the blanks and retell the history of the Olympics.
(设计意图:其一是考察学生对本课一些重点词组的掌握情况;其二是让学生进一步熟悉奥利匹克运动会的历史。)
Step4 group-work ( competition)
First, divide the Ss into four big groups, and then ask Ss to work in groups of four to share the knowledge about the history of the Olympics. After sharing, they will have a competition about the knowledge of the Olympics.
(设计意图:其一,小组活动是培养学生合作意识最有效的途径。其二,通过小组间的竞争比赛,更多的学生能更加积极主动地参与到活动中来,这样就能更有效地对本节课所学的语言知识进行再次巩固练习。)
Step5 Share the motto of the Olympics“faster, higher, stronger” with the students.
(设计意图:拓展学生知识面,并进行一定的德育教育)
