?Step I. Warming and Lead in Greetings and introduction.Good afternoon, everyone. I’m your new teacher today! You can call me Alice. Nice to meet you! Greet the teacher and read the teacher’s name. Ice breakingCheck students’ understanding and pronunciation.
Introduce Olympic events.Look at the picture, what can you think of?What Olympic events do you know?Do you know Beijing Olympics?But do you know classroom Olympics? Look at the picture and think of Olympics. Review some Olympic events according to teacher’s body language. Learn the new word Olympics and review some events.
Introduce classroom Olympics and events.Beijing Olympics means we have Olympics in Beijing. Classroom Olympics means we have Olympics in our classroom. As you can see, this classroom is not as big as your playground, and there’re chairs and desks. Can you play basketball or soccer here? What classroom Olympic events can we have here?Look at the pictures and match them with the phrases. Understand the meaning of classroom Olympics. Match the words with pictures. Step II. Reading PredictionLook at the beginning and end of the passage What can you know?Look at the title and the pictures. What will this passage about? Students read the format, beginning and end, pictures and guess the main idea of the passage. This activity is designed to help students predict the main idea and be interested in reading and checking their answers afterwards.

Where can you find it?The main idea is usually in the first or last paragraph\sentence.Read the first and last paragraph, where can you find the main idea?Read the letter again and try to match the main ideas with each paragraph.
