Good afternoon,distinguished judges:
What great pleasure to share my teaching ideas with you! Today, my topic is lesson34 Steven’s Report. It is in unit 6 in student Book 2. I will elaborate my understanding from 5 aspects.
Part 1 —— Analysis of the Teaching Material
1.status and function
Unit 6 is mainly about seasons and weather. By study, Ss should know about different seasons and activities. After this unit’s learning, Ss should be able to introduce their favorite seasons and related activities. Lesson 34 is about Steven’s report. He tells us about his favorite day in spring. Ss will learn some words and expressions about spring.
2.Analysis of teaching aims
According to the teaching material and Ss’ ability,we have 3 objectives:
1)Knowledge objective: To master the new words and useful expressions .
2)Ability objective: To talk about favorite days.
3)Moral objective:To have fun in different seasons and protect the environment.
3.Teaching Important and Difficult Points
1)the Important points: To master language points and to talk about favorite days.
2)the Difficult point: To describe favorite days in different seasons with a partner.
Part 2 —— The Teaching Methods
To train Ss’ abilities and their good sense of English, I mainly use 3 teaching methods.They are Situational Teaching Method, Task-based teaching method and cooperative teaching method.
At the beginning of the lesson, I played an English song to attract Ss. To make Ss study with clear purpose,during the whole teaching procedure,I give them different tasks and activities, like listening, reading and fill in the table and writing. Ss can cooperate with their group members and learn from each other. In my class, Ss are the real masters while I am a good director.
Part 3 ——Learning Strategies
Before class, Ss need to preview independently. During the class, they can cooperate with their group members. Communicating helps them build up their confidence. Ss have lots of activities, because practice is the only way to master basic knowledge and skills.
Part 4 —— Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warm-up and Lead-in
First, play an English song to arouse Ss’ interests.
Second, according to the song, have a conversation with Ss by asking and answering questions. Ss can communicate actively.
Step 2:Showing some pictures about spring activities can get Ss into the topic quickly.
Step 3: New lesson
1. Let the students listen carefully and circle the correct words. Ss can improve their listening ability.
2. To train Ss’ reading ability, ask them to read the text in groups with questions and fill in the table. They can get more details.
Step 4: Writing
Let the students write about their favorite days. They can describe the season, the weather and the activities on that day. I offer a model so it is easy for most of the students.
Step 5:Summary
Students should have fun in different seasons and protect the environment.
Step 6 Homework
Design 2 assignments to Ss. So students can master language points and use them flexibly.
Part 5 —— Teaching reflection
There are some wonderful points in my class.First, in pre-reading part, I provide a song and four pictures. Students get enough input. Second, the blackboard design is beautiful. I draw a butterfly to remind the students to protect the environment and write spring activities on its wing to let the students remember clearly. But every coin has 2 sides. Because this lesson mainly trains Ss’ abilities, there are not enough knowledge exercises in class. I should consider it as possible as I can.
