Starting from September , 2016 , the panda is no longer the world’s endangered animal . According to IUCN, there are 1,864 pandas in the wild in China now . In 2003, the number was about 1,600 . So it takes the panda off the IUCN Red List .
China’s hard work in the past 36 years to save the panda is paying off . Now, about two thirds of pandas are living in the reserves (保护区) 。
How did Chinese researchers successfully increase the number of pandas ? They put in money , science , time and love . Here is an example .
Bamboo is panda’s main food . And these pandas are big eaters ! A panda needs 12-38 kg of bamboo a day . In the 1980s, without enough food , the number of pandas dropped to about 1,200 . To save pandas , China set up 67 panda reserves and planted a lot of bamboo forests .

China showed several new Fuxing high speed trains at an exhibition (展览) in Beijing .
