The first computers were very big. They were the size of a room! People didn’t have them at home.
In 1930 English scientist Alan Turing (艾伦 ? 图灵) had an idea to make a computer. He programmed it to do different things.
In 1958 US engineer Jack Kilby invented the microchip (芯片). Microchips are tiny but can store lots of information. They helped make computers smaller.
In the 1970s computers became small and cheaper. People started to use them at home.
Now people can look for and share information on the Internet. People can use smartphones to play games, email and go on the internet. Many years ago a computer was the size of a room. Now it can go in your pocket!
Computers have made people's lives easier and more convenient. But they have also made many problems.
