1) 此句中的连词while的意思是 “当……的时候；和……同时”，while还可以表
“而；然而；但”之意，用来说明和强调两种事情或情形不同。

beat作动词，1) 可意为 “敲打；锤砸”。
The rain is beating against the windows.雨水敲打着窗户。
2) 可意为 “打败；取胜”，宾语是竞争对手，即某人或团队。

比较：beat 与win
win,也意为“战胜，赢得”，宾语多是比赛，战争，奖金等。
