Almost every day, we discuss the topic of health, especially for kids. But what is health? “Health” means eating well, getting enough exercise, and having a healthy weight. Let’s read the following rules. They can help you stay healthy.
(1). Eat a variety of food, especially fruit and vegetables. We all know that eating fruit and vegetables can help us stay healthy, but many of us only eat our favorite food. Remember that we can only get the nutrition (营养) we need by eating different kinds of food, especially fruit and vegetables.

(3). Listen to your body. When you are eating, notice how your body feels. When your stomach feels comfortably full, stop eating. Eating too much makes you feel uncomfortable. If you do it too often, it can make you unhealthy and fat.
(4). Limit screen time. What’s screen time? It’s the amount of time you spend watching TV, movies and playing computer games. The more time you spend on these sitting-down activities, the less time you spend playing sports, like basketball, and doing other activities like riding and swimming. Try to spend no more than 2 hours a day on screen time.

1. 青少年学生的烦恼及问题
在社会人群中,青少年学生是即独立又突出的一个群体。他们既不像儿童依赖家长服从管教,又不如成人那样有较强的独立性,可以独当一面。他们不断尝试实现自我的价值,形成自己的世界观,构建自己的社会圈子及生活方式,因而与既有的传统观念形成一定的对立。在家庭,学校以及社会上也会产生一定的矛盾冲突。虽然他们在成长的过程中享受着各种快乐,但也喜欢有困惑和烦恼。他们那烦恼一般来自以下几个方面:学业的压力,在学校中与老师和同学们形成的矛盾,来自家庭的因素和自身人格方面的障碍。
2. 有关代沟
代沟,英语称为generation gap, 是一种全球性的社会现象。《汉现代汉语词典》的解释是两代人之间由于价值观念,心理状态,生活习惯等产生的差异。由于这些差异,日常家庭生活中父母与孩子间形成的各种各样的理解差异和矛盾冲突是代沟的具体表现。由于父母和孩子缺少共同的语言,他们之间的交流减少,孩子与父母之间的矛盾越来越明显。一般的观点认为,随着孩子年龄的增长,尤其是进入青春期后。与家长的思想和理念的差距逐渐加大。接触的事物,人际交往各异,故此形成思想观念和行为的差别。对于缓解代沟,“加强沟通”是最为有效的方案。在网络上,人们还提出了“接纳”“融合”“折中”“并存”“搁置”十字交通要诀。

3. Use conjunctions: until, so that, although
1) so that是连词,引导目的状语从句时,表示“以便;为了”,从句中常使用can /could /may /might /will /would /should等情态动词或助动词;引导结果状语从句时,从句中一般不用can和may等词,在so that前可以用逗号,意思是“因此;所以”。
He got up early so that he can catch the early bus.
他起床很早以便他能赶上第一班公交车。
He read the word several times, so that he remembered it.
他读这个单词几遍,因此他记住了它。
拓展:so… that… 意为“如此……以至于”,常用于结果状语从句,表示上文动作所产生的结果。

2) although是连词,“尽管……但是”,引导让步状语从句,同though一样引导让步状语从句。它们引导的让步状语从句既可放在主句之前,也可放在主句之后。另外,在英语中although 或though不能和but同时出现在一个句子中,但它们之间可进行句型转换。如:
Although / Though the weather is sunny, I feel cold.
I feel cold although / though the weather is sunny.
Although / Though it is raining, but they are still playing outside. (×)
→Although / Though it is raining, they are still playing outside.
= It is raining, but they are still playing outside. (√ )
拓展:当句子含有although/though时,就不能再使用but,但可以和yet、still连用。
Although/Though It was cold outside,he still went out without a coat.
3) until 用于否定句中,表示句子的动作直到until短语所表示的时间才开始发生,即表示动作的起点。一般译为“直到……才”。
His father didn’t come back until he finished his homework.
直到完成他的家庭作业,他的父亲才回来。
拓展:until 用在肯定句中,表示句子的动作一直持续到until短语所表示的时间为止,即表示动作的终点。一般可译为“直到……时(为止)”或“在……以前”。在这种用法中,句子的谓语动词必须是持续动词(非瞬间动词),

本单元的写作话题是“青少年所面临的问题”。本单元的3b写的是对孩子课外辅导班的看法。围绕这一话题表达自己的观点并提出建议和解决方法。常见的写作文体为应用文类的材料作文。
技巧点拨。一是写出面临的问题,也就是topic。二是分析问题的利弊两种观点Opinion 1(Some could…)和Opinion 2(Some shouldn’t),选择其中一种观点,提出相应的解决建议,然后得出结论。三是正确运用时态和表示建议句型的运用,结构不能单一。四是恰当使用连词although, so that, until引导的从句。
