The Attributive Clause
定语从句
Underline the attributive clauses:
Don’t forget the things that once you owned. Treasure the things that you can’t get. Don't give up the things that belong to you and keep those lost things in memory.

☆ 关系代词和关系副词有三大作用:

考点一:关系代词只能用that的几种情况
1、先行词既有人又有物;
Eg: He talked about the teachers and schools that he had visited.
2、先行词前有序数词或形容词最高级时;
Eg: You are the first person that I want to see.
3、先行词被the only, the next, the last, the very, any, little, no等修饰时;
Eg: This is the very pen that I am looking for.
4、先行词是all, none, something, anything, nothing等不定代词时;
Eg: Is there anything that you want in the shop?
5、主句是以who/which开头的特殊疑问句时。
Eg: Who is the girl that is singing in the room?
考点二:以下情况只能用which引导定语从句。
1.引导非限制性定语从句时, 其先行词可是一个词,也可是整个主句或主句的某一部分。
2. 先行词是物,紧接在介词后面时
(介词+关系代词+定语从句)
1. Beijing, which is the capital of China, develops very fast.
2.He seems not to have grasped what I meant, which greatly upsets me.

考点三:关系代词 as 的用法
一、as引导限制性定语从句
主句中the same, such修饰先行词,as做关系代词在定语从句中做主语或宾语。有“如,似,正像”的含义
主要结构有:
the same…as; such…as
Don’t trust such men as praise you to your face.
We have arrived at the same conclusion as they have.
(指人,作主语)
(指物,作宾语)

☆ the same … as 表示同一类人或物;

二、引导非限制性定语从句
as引导非限制性定语从句,指代整个主句内容,
从句可置于句首,句中或句尾。译为 “正如”
As everyone knows ,China is a beautiful country with a long history .
The earth , as we know , moves round the sun .
Tom works hard and is willing to help others, as we all know.
注意:which引导的非限制性定语从句只能放在主句之后。
