1. 辨析yet与 already
yet 多用于否定句句末,意为“还”;用于疑问句句末,意为“已经”.
already主要用于肯定句中,助动词之后, 实义动词之前,也可位于句末,意为“已经”
I haven't cleaned the room yet. 我还没有打扫房间。
Have you seen the film yet? 你已经看过那部电影了吗?
We have already got everything ready. 我们已经准备好了一切。
2.What' s it like?它怎么样?
What's sb./sth. like?意为“某人/某物怎么 样?”,用于询问某人的性格、品质等或询问对某物的看法。其同义句为“ How do you like sb./sth?”或“ What do you think of sb,/sth?”
---What' s the film like?这部电影怎么样?
---It' s so moving.非常感人。
---What's Ruth like? 露丝是个什么样的人呢?

3.hurry(1)动词, 意为“匆忙;赶快”。常见搭配有:
hurry up“赶快;急忙(做某事)”;
hurry to 十地点名词“匆忙赶到某地”;
hurry to do sth. “急忙做某事”
Hurry up and get dressed.赶快穿好衣服。
Hurry up, or we'll be late for school. 快点!否则我们上学会迟到。
He hurried to the classroom, but found there was nobody there. 他匆忙赶到教室,但是发现那儿没有人。
名词,意为“匆忙;急忙”,常见搭配 :
in a hurry 匆忙地
After breakfast, he left home in a hurry 早饭后,他匆匆忙忙地离开了家。
due形容词,意为 “预期;预定”, 通常用作表语。
常见搭配有:be due to do sth./ be due for sth.“预期做某事”。
We are due to leave tomorrow 我们定于明天动身。
You are due for the final examination next month.你们的期终考试定于下月进行。

1. When I first arrived on this island, I had nothing.

arrive on /upon 到达
拓展:arrive at 和arrive in都有“到达”的意思。arrive at 往往指到达较小的地方,如乡镇,车站等,而arrive in指到达较大的地方,如城市,国家等。
e.g. When we arrived at Wuhan Airport, it’s midnight.
当我们到达武汉飞机场,已经是深夜了。
The president arrived in Spain on Friday.总统于周五到达西班牙。
2)had nothing一无所有
e.g. I’m sorry, I have nothing to pay you except some big bills.
对不起,我只带着大面额的钞票,没有零钱付给你。
2. Although I have lost everything, I have not lost my life.
虽然我失去了一切,但没有失去生命。
although“虽然,尽管”,引导让步状语从句,不能与but连用。
e.g.Although he is young, he works hard.他年龄小,但是工作很努力。
3. So I will not give up and I will wait for another ship.
因此我不放弃,要等候另一只船的到来。
give up 放弃,后跟doing 形式。
e.g.You had better give up smoking. It’s bad for your health.
你最好把烟戒掉,它对你的健康有害。
2)wait for sb. /sth. 等待某人、某物
wait to do sth. 等着做某事
wait for sb. to do sth. 等着某人做某事
can’t wait to do sth. 迫不及待地做某事
e.g. We want to wait to see the result.我们想等着看到结果。
They are waiting for a bus.他们正在等公交。
They are waiting for Jim to come here. 他们正等着吉姆来这。
He can’t wait to put on his new shoes.他迫不及待地穿上新鞋子。
A few weeks ago, I found the marks of another man’s feet on the sand.

another既可用作形容词,也可用作代词。用作形容词时,意思是“又一的;再一的”,修饰名词,位于名词前;用作代词时,意思是“另一个”。
e.g. Just at that time, another man came in.

的前面,意为“还;再;又”。
e.g. We need another three men to help do the work.

4. Who else is on my island?
else意为“另外; 其他”。常用于以some-、every-、any-和no-开头的单词后或疑问词后。
e.g. Who else was at the party? 还有谁参加了聚会?
We went to the cinema and nowhere else.
我们去电影院了, 没到其他地方去。

疑问词+else 不定代词+else other +n.
e.g. I have something else to tell you.
I have other things to tell you.
我还有其他的事要告诉你。

5. How long have they been here?
他们来这儿多久了?
how long常用于询问时间,意为“多久;多长时间”,与现在完成时连用,要求谓语动词必须是延续性动词。
e.g. How long have you had the book? 你买这本书多久了?
6. Not long after that, I saw some cannibals trying to kill two men from a broken ship.
在那之后不久,我看见一些食人族在试图杀死两个来自破船上的人。
see sb. doing sth.意为“看到某人正在做某事”,强调看到的动作正在进行。
e.g. Mary saw him cleaning the classroom. 玛丽看见他正在打扫教室。
see sb. do sth.意为“ 看到某人做了某事”,强调看到动作的全过程。
e.g. Mary saw him clean the classroom.
玛丽看见他打扫教室了。
One of them died but the other ran towards my house.
其中一个死了,另一个朝我的房屋这边跑来。
1)one…the other…表示 “(两者中的)一个……另一个……”
e.g. He raised one arm and then the other.
他先举起一只胳膊,然后举起另一只。
2)run towards 朝……跑
e.g. He ran towards the station.

8. I named him Friday because that was the day I met him.
我管他叫Friday因为我正好是在那天遇到的他。
name作动词,意为“命名;给……取名”。固定搭配“name + sb. + 名字”意为“给某人取名为……”。
