Language points:
The girl takes a one-dollar coin from her pocket and
pays for ?her cookies.
pay for sth. 意为 “付钱买某物”
Eg: Yesterday we paid 200 yuan for a concert ticket.
I am afraid I can’t afford ?it.我恐怕买不起。
afford及物动词,常用在情态动词 can, could,
及 be able to 之后,表示 “负担得起…的费用、
损失等”,常用于否定句和疑问句中。
afford to do 意为 “有钱去做某事”。
Eg: They can’t afford to go abroad.
You can do your homework while? you ride your bike.
(1)While引导的时间状语从句中,谓语动词只能是延续性动词。
eg : Could you look after my dog while I’m away?
(2)When 引导的时间状语从句中,其谓语动词可以是 延续性的,也可以是非延续性的。
eg: I was just reading a book when she came into my room.
