What’s the secret for different athletes’ diet?
Host:
Is each sport different?
Host:
Well, that’s food for thought. Thank you very much.
food for thought: Something worth thinking seriously about.
引人深思的想法
Athletes’ skills are important but their food is important, too.
Is there a secret?
Yeah, kind of. First of all, let’s take Arsenal as an example. Arsenal is a top UK football team. The players eat lots of fish, rice and vegetables, but they don’t eat any beef, cookies or sugar.

Then how about swimmers? Swimmers usually eat some meat
for energy, and also some bread, noodles or rice, vegetables and bananas. They don’t usually eat any pancakes, cheese, or things like that. But Michel Phelps is an exception. He can eat three pancakes, three cheese sandwiches and lots of other food at one meal.

In a word, each sport is different, and each person is different, too. They do different exercises and eat different things to keep fit. Well, that’s food for thought .
So guys, keep a balanced diet, and remember, the one that fits you is the best for you.
Your Turn What do you usually eat?
Time to Share
Tom: I eat some meat, vegetables, and rice or noodles
every day. Sometimes I eat fish or chicken. I don’t
often eat hamburgers or hot dogs. How about you?
Eric: I eat rice, vegetables and chicken, too. I also eat
fish and noodles sometimes. I don’t eat any
hamburgers or snacks.
Time to Share
I usually have some milk and bread or cake for breakfast. And for lunch I eat some fish or chicken, rice and a lot of vegetables. I don’t often eat hamburgers because they’re not healthy. And I usually have some noodles and vegetables for dinner. I never eat any food at night,
because I think it’s bad for my health.
