3. Review: A quick respond game.
The teacher shows some verbs on the PPT. Students try to speak out their past or original forms as soon as possible. The fastest one can get a reward.
4. Lead-in.
The teacher shows a calendar on the screen. （课件出示：2020年五月日历）
T: What’s the date?
Ss: It’s May 1st. It’s the Labour Day holiday.
T: Where did you go last Labour Day holiday?

◆ Teaching purpose
歌曲可以激发学生的学习兴趣，引入假期这个话题。以师生互动游戏的方式简单复习动词原形与其过去式的转换，回顾上个单元重点知识。通过引导学生观察并讨论图片，自然地引出短语“the Labour Day holiday”,并通过问答的方式引出本课讨论话题。
Step 2: Presentation
1. Listen and tick or cross.
(1)T: What day is it today?

T: We should go to school and have classes on… But John didn’t go to school today. Amy called him.
T: John answered a phone call from Amy. Please read “Let’s try” first and guess what happened.
(2)Students listen to the recording and try to finish the exercises below.

2. Watch and answer.

4. Read and act.
(1)Look, listen and imitate. Let students read the text sentence by sentence after the recording and pay attention to the pronunciation and the intonation.
(2)Read freely for one minute. After that, two students work in a group and read out the dialogue.
(3)Ask students to fill in the blanks on the screen. Then students try to role play without books. (出示课件)

师先给出问题，让学生带着问题观看课本动画，然后给出图片引导学生回答问题。通过图片展示与对比，来区分和学习新单词, 了解葡萄的成熟时间。这样学生就能很自然地理解课本的对话内容。跟读音频，保证学生语音、语调正确。通过填空补全对话，可以降低学生角色表演的难度。
Step 3: Practice
1. Read and underline.
Ask students to read the dialogue and underline all the past forms of verbs.
2. A game: What is missing?
Show the key words “mule, Turpan, could, till”, the phrases “fell off, Labour Day” and the sentences “—Are you all right? —I’m OK now.” “—Did you go to Turpan? —Yes, we did.” on the PPT. Students read them quickly, then speak out the missing part. (课件出示：游戏规则及相关内容)

找出动词的过去式以及游戏环节，可以让学生在娱乐的环境中对本课重点知识进行操练，同时为下部分自己编对话描述过去去过的地方以及做过的事情打下基础。
