阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
Paper
route
A
paper
route
is
one
of
the
most
common
tried
and
true
ways
to
earn
money,
and
has
been
the
first
job
for
many
kids
over
the
decades.
Pros:
First,
if
your
child
rides
his
bicycle
every
morning
during
deliveries,
he
will
be
getting
a
great
workout
while
he
is
earning
money.
Second,
paper
deliverers
have
the
freedom
to
do
their
route
as
quickly
as
they
want,
in
the
order
that
they
want;
and
they
don’t
have
to
dress
up
to
do
it!
Cons:
Unpredictable
Weather:
your
child
will
be
facing
adverse(不利的)
weather
conditions.
Early
Morning
Hours:
newspapers
have
to
arrive
early,
many
times
by
5:00
in
the
morning.
But
your
children
might
have
to
be
up
as
early
as
2:
00
a.
m.
to
get
the
papers
out
on
time.
Collecting
Money:
It
can
be
intimidating(令人胆怯的
)
for
some
children
to
ask
strangers
for
money.
What
Kids
Can
Learn
About
Money
(by
doing
a
paper
route):
Paper
routes
depend
on
punctuality
of
the
paper
delivery.
Your
child
will
learn
to
deliver
the
papers
by
a
specified
time
each
morning.
Family
business
If
you
own
your
own
business,
you
can
hire
them
to
work
for
your
family
business.
Pros:
Since
you
will
be
the
employer,
you
can
make
changes
to
their
schedule
if
you
need
to.
In
addition,
your
child
will
work
for
you,
so
you’ll
always
know
where
he
is
and
be
able
to
keep
an
eye
on
him.
Cons:
Variability:
depending
on
your
line
of
work,
you
may
not
have
enough
work
to
keep
your
child
busy
consistently.
Limited
for
Children:
If
you
don’t
have
your
own
business,
but
like
the
idea,
you
may
want
to
ask
friends,
neighbors,
or
relatives
you
know
who
might
want
to
hire
some
additional
help.
What
Kids
Can
Learn
About
Money
(by
working
for
the
family
business):
Working
for
the
family
will
give
your
children
a
direct
line
of
communication
when
they
want
to
talk.
Give
them
the
opportunity
to
discuss
pay
rates
with
you.
Introduce
them
to
negotiations
to
agree
on
a
fair
rate.
21.
What
are
the
advantages
of
paper
routes,
according
to
the
passage?
A.
They
are
safe
and
have
a
flexible
schedule.
B.
You
just
work
in
the
morning
and
can
get
a
great
workout.
C.
You
don’t
have
to
wear
a
uniform
or
work
in
your
spare
time.
D.
You
will
get
exercise
and
have
the
freedom
to
work
the
way
you
want.
22.
What
is
the
advantage
of
parents
having
their
children
work
for
the
family
business?
A.
They
can
change
their
children’s
schedule
as
they
want.
B.
They
can
ensure
the
safety
of
their
children.
C.
It
makes
them
busy,
so
they
don’t
have
time
to
work.
D.
it
will
help
children
develop
the
spirit
of
enterprise.
23.
Which
of
the
following
is
TRUE
about
the
two
jobs
mentioned
above?
A.
Children
have
to
arrive
at
5:
00
am
to
prepare
the
newspapers
on
a
paper
route.
B.
Parents
approve
of
children
asking
strangers
for
money
on
a
paper
route
C.
Working
for
the
family
business
can
increase
the
communication
between
parents
and
children.
D.
Only
children
whose
parents
own
a
business
can
work
B
Research
shows
that
childhood
friendships
are
important
indicators
of
future
success
and
social
adjustment.Children's
relationships
with
peers
(同龄人)
strongly
influence
their
success
in
school,and
children
with
fewer
friends
are
more
at
risk
of
dropping
out
of
school,becoming
depressed
and
other
problems.
Making
and
Keeping
Friends
Is
More
than
Child's
Play
When
6?year?old
Rachel
returned
to
school
on
a
recent
Monday
morning,her
eyes
immediately
scanned
the
playground
for
her
friend
Abbie.“Though
they
were
only
separated
by
a
weekend,the
girls
ran
right
into
each
other's
arms
and
hugged,”recalls
Rachel's
mother
Kathryn
Willis
of
Gilbert.“It
was
like
a
scene
from
a
movie.”
Most
parents
instinctively
(本能地)
know
that
having
friends
is
good
for
their
child.Experts
agree
that
friendship
is
not
simply
child's
play
,but
a
powerful
predictor
of
social
adjustment
throughout
life.
A
Skill
for
Life
“Childhood
friendships
serve
as
a
very
important
training
ground
for
adulthood,”
says
Dr.Robbie
Adler?Tapia
psychologist
with
the
Center
for
Children's
Health
&
Life
Development
at
the
East
Valley
Family
Resource
Center.Researcher
William
Hartup
states,“Peer
relations
contribute
significantly
to
both
social
and
cognitive
(认知的)
development.”
Hartup
concludes
that
the
single
best
childhood
predictor
of
adult
social
adaptation
is
not
school
grades
or
classroom
behavior,but
rather,
how
well
a
child
gets
along
with
other
children.The
work
of
Arizona
State
University
professor
of
Developmental
Psychology
Gary
Ladd
proves
that
just
as
being
able
to
make
and
keep
friends
is
beneficial
to
kids,so
is
the
lack
of
friends
detrimental.
Good
Friendships
Don't
Just
Happen
Experts
agree
that
it
is
essential
for
children
to
establish
high?quality
friendships.
But,
researchers
warn,
these
friendships
don't
necessarily
just
happen.
Often,
a
good
friendship
begins
with
involved
parents.Psychologist
Dr.Lynne
Kenney
Markan
believes
kids
should
be
taught
social
skills
in
much
the
same
way
they
are
taught
math
and
reading.
Bad
Company
Many
parents
worry
about
the
quality
as
well
as
the
quantity
of
their
child's
friendships.“When
she
was
in
1st
grade,her
supposed
‘best
friend'
began
calling
her
names
and
threatening
to
hurt
her,”
says
Mindy
Miller.“My
daughter
wasn't
allowed
to
talk
to
or
even
look
at
other
girls
in
her
class.It
really
crushed
her
spirit.I
told
my
daughter
she
didn't
need
a
‘friend'
like
that.”
“I'll
bend
over
backwards
to
help
my
son
get
together
with
a
friend
I
think
is
good
for
him,”
Adler?Tapia
says.“I
don't
look
at
it
as
manipulation
(操纵),just
positive
parental
involvement.”
24.
The
example
of
Rachel
and
Abbie
is
used
to
illustrate
that________.
A.childhood
friendship
is
of
great
significance
to
their
growth
B.a
positive
friendship
helps
children
solve
emotional
and
physical
problems
C.it
is
a
proven
fact
that
peer
friendship
is
the
most
rewarding
experience
throughout
life
D.Rachel
missed
her
friend
Abbie
very
much
because
of
their
separation
of
one
weekend
25.
The
underlined
word
“detrimental”
could
be
replaced
by________.
A.aggressive
B.disappointing
C.ridiculous
D.harmful
26.
We
can
learn
from
the
passage
that
high?quality
friendship
most
probably
results
from______.
A.social
skills
and
good
study
habits
B.school
grades
and
classroom
behaviors
C.academic
success
and
social
adaptation
D.positive
parental
involvement
and
social
skills
27.
From
the
last
paragraph
we
can
conclude
that
Dr.Robbie
Adler?Tapia
agrees
that________.
A.parents
should
regard
making
friends
as
something
that
just
happens
B.it's
wise
for
parents
to
support
and
encourage
healthy
peer
relationships
C.parents
only
need
to
help
their
children
to
cope
with
difficult
social
situations
D.parents
are
supposed
to
encourage
their
children
to
make
as
many
friends
as
they
can
C
Many
college
students
turn
to
ADHD(注意缺陷障碍)medicine
during
the
exam
week,
which
is
regarded
as
“smart
drugs”
that
will
help
their
academic(学术的)performance.
The
thinking
is
that
if
the
drugs
help
students
with
ADHD
improve
their
focus,
they
should
provide
the
same
benefit
for
people
who
don’t
have
the
disorder.
But
a
new
study
shows
that
drugs
can
actually
damage
brain
function
of
healthy
students
who
take
the
drug
hoping
to
boost
their
intelligence.
“It’s
not
a
smart
drug
which
will
suddenly
improve
their
ability
to
understand
information
they
read,”
said
Lisa
Weyandt,
a
professor
at
the
University
of
Rhode
Island.
To
test
whether
this
effect
is
real
or
not,
researchers
organized
13
students
to
take
part
in
two
five-hour
study
sessions(一段时间)in
the
lab.
The
students
took
the
standard
30mg
ADHD
drugs
before
one
session,
and
a
sugar
pill
before
the
other.
Students
on
ADHD
drugs
did
experience
an
increase
in
their
blood
pressure
and
heart
rates.
“The
medicine
was
having
an
effect
on
their
brain,”
Weyandt
said.
The
students
also
showed
an
improvement
in
their
ability
to
focus,
the
researchers
found.
However,
students
on
ADHD
drugs
experienced
no
improvement
in
reading
comprehension,
reading
fluency
or
knowledge
reviews,
compared
to
when
they’d
taken
a
sugar
pill.
“We
read
aloud
stories
to
them
and
asked
them
to
recall
information
from
the
stories,
”she
said.
“That
didn’t
improve.”
Worse,
the
ADHD
drug
actually
harms
students’
memory.
It’s
often
misused
because
people
pull
all-nighters
and
they’re
tired,
and
they
think
it’s
going
to
keep
them
awake.
Maybe
it
does,
but
it’s
certainly
not
going
to
help
their
academic
work.
The
brain
is
still
developing
until
the
mid
to
late
20s.
It’s
important
to
keep
it
healthy.
There’s
also
a
chance
that
ADHD
drugs
could
endanger
a
student’s
heart
health.
28.

students

drugs?

sleeping.

第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
Choosing
the
Right
Path
to
Be
a
“Better”
Person
Life
is
a
constant
exercise
in
self-improvement.
In
the
rush
to
achieve,
the
idea
of
being
“better”
can
become
lost
sometimes.
You
may
always
wonder
how
to
improve
yourself
and
fulfill
your
dreams
in
an
easier
way.
36
Explore
your
talents.
Everybody
has
some
outstanding
skills
or
interests.
So
it’s
often
necessary
to
be
patient
and
try
many
things
before
you
find
one
that
suits
you.
37
For
example,
people
loving
adventure
may
not
be
interested
in
the
quiet
chess
club,
but
someone
who
enjoys
other
quiet
activities
might
be.
Determining
who
you
enjoy
being
around
may
help
you
know
what
you’ll
enjoy.
38
No
matter
how
much
money
you
make,
you
will
not
be
happy
if
you
spend
your
entire
life
doing
something
you
hate.
It’s
important
to
at
least
devote
some
of
your
time
to
what
makes
you
happy.
If
you’re
particularly
unhappy
at
your
job,
consider
why.
39
If
you
feel
your
job
isn’t
meaningful,
or
isn’t
in
line
with
your
values,
consider
finding
another
job.
Experience
something
new.
Research
has
shown
that
when
we’re
in
our
comfort
zone,
we
aren’t
as
productive
as
we
are
when
we
step
just
beyond
it.
40
Because
of
that
,we
may
react
slowly
to
our
own
positive
experiences
and
interactions
with
others,
even
when
those
are
little
scary.
Doing
so
can
help
you
achieve
more.
A.
Do
what
you
love.
B.
Here
are
some
tips
for
you.
C.
Register
in
a
class
you’re
interested
in.
D.
Humans
adapt
very
quickly
to
positive
events.
E.
It’s
possible
that
some
changes
may
change
your
feeling.
F.
Similar
types
of
people
may
be
attracted
to
the
same
activities.
G.
Try
not
to
allow
yourself
to
focus
so
much
on
a
certain
aspect
of
your
life.
第三部分
语言知识运用(共三节,满分45分)
第一节
完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
When
I
was
thirteen,
my
family
moved
from
Boston
to
Tucson,
Arizona.
41
the
move,
my
father
42
us
in
the
living-room
on
a
freezing
January
night.
My
sisters
and
I
sat
around
the
fire,
not
43
that
the
universe
would
suddenly
change
its
course.
“In
May,
we’
re
44
to
Arizona.”
The
words,
so
small,
didn’t
seem
45
enough
to
hold
my
new
life.
But
the
world
changed
and
I
awoke
on
a
train
moving
across
the
country.
I
watched
the
46
change
from
green
trees
to
flat
dusty
plains
to
high
mountains
as
I
saw
strange
new
plants
that
47
mysteries
yet
to
come.
Finally,
we
arrived
and
48
into
our
new
home.
49
my
older
sisters
were
sad
at
the
loss
of
friends,
I
50
explored
our
new
surroundings.
One
afternoon,
I
was
out
exploring
51
and
saw
a
new
kind
of
cactus(仙人掌).
I
crouched(蹲)
down
for
a
closer
look.
“You’d
better
not
52
that.”
I
turned
around
to
see
an
old
woman.
“Are
you
new
to
this
neighborhood?”
I
explained
that
I
was,
53
,
new
to
the
entire
state.
“My
name
is
Ina
Thorne.
Have
you
got
used
to
life
in
the
54
?
It
must
be
quite
a
55
after
living
in
Boston.”
How
could
I
explain
how
I
56
the
desert?
I
couldn’t
seem
to
find
the
right
words.
“It’s
vastness,”
she
offered.
“That
vastness
57
you
stand
on
the
mountains
overlooking
the
desert
—
you
can
58
how
little
you
are
in
comparison
with
the
world.
59
,
you
feel
that
the
possibilities
are
limitless.”
That
was
it.
That
was
the
feeling
I’d
had
ever
since
I’d
first
seen
the
mountains
of
my
new
home.
Again,
my
60
would
change
with
just
a
few
simple
words.
“Would
you
like
to
come
to
my
home
tomorrow?
Someone
should
teach
you
which
plant
you
should
and
shouldn’t
touch.”
