Pets
are
popular.
They’re
good
listeners,
they
encourage
us
to
exercise,
and
they’re
always
on
our
side
when
we
argue
with
others.
They
can
bring
people
comfort
and
pleasure.
But
it
is
important
to
keep
in
mind
that
pets
can
carry
diseases
that
can
make
you
sick.
Washing
your
hands
often
—
especially
after
you
touch,
feed,
or
clean
up
a
pet
—
is
the
best
way
to
keep
yourself
healthy
and
prevent
the
spread
of
disease.
Be
sure
to
clean
your
fingernails
carefully
every
time
you
wash.
You
also
can
protect
your
health
by
wearing
gloves
while
cleaning
animal
cages
or
cat
litter
boxes.
Avoid
washing
your
pet
in
the
bathtub
(浴缸),
but
if
you
do,
always
disinfect
(消毒)
the
tub
immediately
afterward.
Be
sure
to
bring
your
pet
to
the
hospital
for
examinations
every
two
weeks
or
month
and
whenever
your
pet
is
sick
or
injured.
You
can
do
a
few
other
things
to
keep
yourself
and
your
pet
healthy.
Only
give
your
pet
food
that
has
been
planned
ahead
for
them.
It’s
not
a
good
idea
to
share
your
food
with
your
pet.
Human
food
(like
chocolate)
can
make
animals
sick.
Never
feed
your
pet
raw
(生的)
meat
because
it
can
carry
germs
(细菌)
that
cause
serious
illness.
And
funny
as
it
can
be
to
see
your
dog
or
cat
drinking
from
the
toilet,
don’t
let
pets
do
this.
It’s
bad
for
your
pet’s
health!
Give
them
clean,
fresh
water
to
drink
at
all
times.
Never
give
milk
to
cats.
The
only
milk
an
animal
should
drink
is
from
its
mother.
Cow’s
milk
is
not
for
pets,
especially
for
cats,
as
it
makes
them
sick.
Finally,
some
animals
aren’t
pets.
Don’t
take
in
a
wild
or
abandoned
(被抛弃的)
animal
as
a
pet
because
it
may
have
diseases
that
could
make
you
or
your
family
sick.
Instead,
turn
to
an
animal
rescue
group
that
is
trained
in
helping
sick
or
abandoned
animals.

D.mother

7.Which
is

C
When
Regis
Mangwiro
and
the
other
villagers
moved
to
a
new
place
in
southeastern
Zimbabwe,
Africa,
they
were
happy
to
find
a
lake
nearby.
Now,
they
would
no
longer
have
to
walk
long
distances
looking
for
water.
At
last
they
had
a
source
of
water
what
they
call
their
own.
But
several
days
later,
two
young
boys
saw
something
they
had
never
seen
before
—
a
huge
animal
was
standing
at
the
edge
of
the
lake,
having
grass.
When
the
animal
saw
the
boys,
it
walked
into
the
lake
and
disappeared
beneath
the
water.
Regis
looked
into
the
story
of
the
big
creature
that
vanished
into
the
lake.
“When
I
took
a
closer
look
at
the
dung
(粪便),
I
realized
that
it
was
from
a
hippo
(河马),”
he
said.
Twelve
hippos
were
living
in
the
lake.
The
villagers
were
worried.
In
the
country
of
Zimbabwe,
hippos
attack
humans
more
often
than
lions
do.
The
hippos
would
often
stay
on
the
village
side
of
the
lake
all
day.
This
meant
that
the
villagers
could
not
go
near
the
lake
until
the
hippos
got
out.
It
was
too
long
a
wait
for
the
villagers,
because
they
needed
the
water
from
the
lake
to
survive.
“This
is
the
only
source
of
fresh
water
in
the
village,”
said
a
villager.
“There
is
no
way
we
can
avoid
this
lake.”
So
the
women
began
moving
in
groups
whenever
they
went
to
fetch
water
from
the
lake.
Before
collecting
water,
they
made
sure
no
hippos
were
nearby.
The
men
began
fishing
in
pairs,
with
one
man
always
looking
out
for
hippos.
It
took
time,
but
these
days,
the
hippos
and
humans
live
side
by
side.
The
villagers
say
that
when
the
hippos
spot
people
coming,
they
swim
slowly
to
the
other
side
of
the
lake
and
mind
their
own
business.
The
villagers
do
not
go
into
the
part
of
the
lake
where
the
hippos
usually
stay.
They
have
learned
to
share
the
lake
they
both
need
to
survive.
9.Before
Regis
and
other
villagers
moved
to
the
new
place,
________.
A.Regis
had
never
heard
of
hippos
B.they
had
their
own
source
of
water
C.it
was
not
easy
for
them
to
find
water
D.some
of
them
had
been
attacked
by
hippos
10.The
underlined
word
“vanished”
in
Paragraph
3
can
best
be
replaced
by
“________”.
A.disappeared B.looked
C.jumped
D.fell
11.When
the
villagers
found
the
hippos,
they
________.
A.wanted
to
kill
them
B.tried
to
drive
them
away
C.stopped
collecting
water
from
the
lake
D.became
careful
when
they
went
near
the
lake
12.What
would
be
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.Living
near
a
lake
B.Sharing
a
lake
with
hippos
C.Looking
for
water
in
Africa
D.Saving
the
hippos
D
There
are
only
24
hours
in
a
day,
but
people
can
use
the
time
wisely.
In
other
words,
good
time
management
(管理)
is
important
if
you
want
to
succeed.
Knowing
the
importance
of
daily
matters
is
the
first
step
towards
good
time
management.
Write
down
the
things
that
you
want
to
do
and
organise
them
according
to
their
level
of
importance.
The
important
thing
should
be
done
first.
If
there
are
too
many
things
that
have
to
be
done
in
one
day,
then
you
have
to
give
up
doing
something
that
is
less
important
on
your
list.
Besides
this,
you
need
to
spend
a
specific
(特定的)
amount
of
time
doing
all
the
activities
you
have
written
down
and
make
sure
you
finish
them
on
time.
People
often
slow
down
in
their
work
even
though
they
know
that
time
will
never
wait
for
them.
Make
sure
you
keep
to
your
plan
and
finish
the
tasks
one
by
one.
Do
not
try
to
do
too
many
things
at
once.
Also,
you
can
group
similar
activities
together
and
do
them
one
by
one.
For
example,
you
can
group
all
the
tasks
you
need
to
do
in
the
office
together
and
do
them
while
you're
in
office.
Do
all
the
tasks
that
have
to
be
done
in
one
place
first,
and
then
move
to
the
next
place
to
do
the
other
tasks.
“The
bad
news
is
that
time
flies.
The
good
news
is
that
you're
the
pilot,”
said
Michael
Althsuler.
Your
future
is
in
your
hands,
so
remember
to
invest
(投资)
your
time
wisely
from
today
on.
13.Which
of
the
following
things
should
be
done
first?
A.The
most
difficult
things.
B.The
most
important
things.
C.The
things
that
weren't
done
yesterday.
D.The
things
that
take
the
least
time.
14.The
author
quoted(引用)
the
words
by
Althsuler
to
say
that
________.
A.you
can
manage
your
time
wisely
B.you
can't
control
time
C.time
passes
quickly
D.everything
has
two
sides
15.The
text
is
mainly
about
________.
A.the
importance
of

B.ways
to

C.ways
to

D.the

that
the
light
was
coming
from
his

because
he
was

参考范文:
Dear
Susan,
I’m
sorry
to
hear
that
you
are
having
trouble
adapting
to
your
new
school
life
in
America,
but
this
situation
can
be
easily
changed
if
you
take
my
advice.
Firstly,
you
should
work
hard
at
English,
which
can
give
you
more
opportunities
to
communicate
with
others.
Secondly,
why
not
make
some
friends?They
can
help
you
to
know
more
about
America,
and
friendship
can
help
you
to
forget
your
loneliness.
Thirdly,
it
would
be
a
good
idea
if
you
take
an
active
part
in
all
kinds
of
activities,
which
will
help
to
make
life
more
interesting.
By
doing
this,
you
will
be
happier
with
your
new
life
soon.
I
hope
you
will
find
these
ideas
useful.
Yours,
Li
Mei
