2、Reading
can
be
a
social
activity.
Think
of
the
people
who
belong
to
book
groups.
They
choose
books
to
read
and
then
meet
to
discuss
them.
Now,
the
website
BookCrossing.
com
turns
the
page
on
the
traditional
idea
of
a
book
group.
???
Members
go
on
the
site
and
register
the
books
they
own
and
would
like
to
share.
BookCrossing
provides
an
identification
number
to
stick
inside
the
book.
Then
the
person
leaves
it
in
a
public
place,
hoping
that
the
hook
will
have
an
adventure,
travelling
far
and
wide
with
each
new
reader
who
finds
it.
???
Bruce
Pederson,
the
managing
director
of
BookCrossing,
says,
"The
two
things
that
change
your
life
are
the
people
you
meet
and
books
you
read.
BookCrossing
combines
both."
???
Members
leave
books
on
park
benches
and
buses,
in
train
stations
and
coffee
shops.
Whoever
finds
their
book
will
go
to
the
site
and
record
where
they
found
it.
???
People
who
find
a
book
can
also
leave
a
journal
entry
describing
what
they
thought
of
it.
E-mails
are
then
sent
to
the
BookCrossers
to
keep
them
updated
about
where
their
books
have
been
found.
Bruce
Pederson
says
the
idea
is
for
people
not
to
be
selfish
by
keeping
a
book
to
gather
dust
on
a
shelf
at
home.
???
BookCrossing
is
part
of
a
trend
among
people
who
want
to
get
back
to
the
"real"
and
not
the
virtual
(虚拟).The
site
now
has
more
than
one
million
members
in
more
than
one
hundred
thirty-five
countries.

3、After
disappearing
for
over
19
years,
measles
(麻疹)
is
making
a
comeback
in
America.
Since
January
2019,
the
disease
has
infected
more
than
700
people,
mostly
small
children,
and
the
number
seems
to
be
increasing
daily.
Measles
is
an
infectious
disease
that
typically
begins
with
a
high
fever,
cough,
runny
nose,
and
red,
watery
eyes.
Many
people
also
lose
their
appetites
and
feel
sleepy.
About
three
to
four
days
after
the
symptoms
start,
the
person
breaks
out
into
a
rash
(皮疹)
that
begins
on
the
face
at
the
hairline
and
then
spreads
to
the
neck
and
the
rest
of
the
body.
In
healthy
people,
the
recovery,
which
takes
between
two
to
three
weeks,
starts
soon
after
the
rash
begins.
However,
for
about
40
percent
of
patients

mainly
kids
under
the
age
of
five
or
older
adults

the
disease
often
leads
to
pneumonia
(肺炎),
which,
if
left
untreated,
could
result
in
death.
The
recent
outbreak
is
thought
to
have
been
caused
by
travelers
picking
up
the
virus
in
a
country
where
the
disease
is
still
existing
and
exposing
it
to
an
unvaccinated
(未接种的)
community
in
the
US.
In
New
York,
it
was
carried
back
by
someone
who
had
recently
visited
Israel,
which
is
currently
undergoing
a
significant
measles,
while
in
Washington,
“patient
zero”
was
infected
by
a
type
that
is
currently
circulating
in
Europe.?
To
limit
the
spread
of
the
disease
before
it
gets
out
of
hand,
US
health
officials
are
attempting
to
educate
communities
with
high
rates
of
unvaccinated
children.
They
are
also
urging
adults
to
consult
with
their
physicians
and
get
injected
if
considered
necessary
by
the
doctor.
Hopefully,
health
officials
worldwide
will
be
able
to
convince
parents
that
vaccinating
their
children
will
protect,
not
harm,
them.
1.What
is
the
third
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.The
causes
of
measles.
B.The
symptoms
of
measles.
C.The
possible
results
of
measles.
D.The
cures
for
measles
2.Why
did
some
people
develop
measles
in
America?
A.Because
it
is
too
hot
this
year.
B.Because
people
are
too
stressed.
C.Because
pollution
is
too
serious.
D.Because
the
virus
was
taken
to
America.
3.What
do
we
know
about
measles?
A.It
once
disappeared
in
America.
B.It
starts
with
a
rash.
C.It
is
mild
to
everyone.
D.It
is
impossible
to
cure.
4.In
which
section
of
a
newspaper
may
this
text
appear?
A.Health.
B.Education.
C.Science.
D.Entertainment.
4、Say
you're
in
the
supermarket
parking
lot,
holding
your
baby,
bags
of
goods,
and
trying
to
open
your
car.
A
stranger
walks
up
and
says,
“Here,
let
me
hold
your
baby.”
Should
you
let
him?
According
to
a
new
New
York
University
study,
knowing
whether
or
not
to
trust
someone
is
so
important
that
we
can
tell
whether
a
face
is
trustworthy
before
we
even
consciously
know
it's
there.
The
researchers
knew
from
previous
studies
that
people
are
fairly
similar
when
it
comes
to
how
they
judge
a
face's
trustworthiness.
They
wanted
to
find
out
whether
that
would
be
true
if
people
only
saw
a
face
for
a
quick
moment—an
amount
of
time
so
short
that
it
would
prevent
making
a
conscious
judgment.
To
carry
out
their
study,
the
researchers
monitored
the
amygdala
(扁桃腺结构)
of
37
volunteers
while
showing
them
300
faces
for
33
milliseconds
each.
Those
faces
had
already
been
tested
with
a
different
set
of
10
subjects,
who
saw
them
for
much
longer.
In
those
earlier
tests,
people
agreed
about
whether
to
trust
each
face.
In
this
new
study,
fascinatingly,
different
parts
of
the
amygdala
lit
up
when
a
subject
saw
an
untrustworthy
face
and
a
trustworthy
one—and
it
lit
up
more
when
the
face
in
question
was
suspicious.
“Faces
that
appear
likely
to
cause
harm
are
suddenly
tracked
by
the
amygdala,
so
it
could
then
quickly
change
other
brain
processes
and
make
fast
responses
to
people—approach
or
avoid,”
says
Jon
Freeman,
the
study's
senior
author.
“Our
talents
for
making
instant
judgments
could
either
come
from
birth
or
be
learned
from
the
social
environment.”
So
should
you
trust
the
guy
in
the
parking
lot?
Your
brain
already
knows.
1.The
amygdala
lit
up
more
clearly
when
people?
__________?
.
A.came
across
a
neutral
face
mask
B.met
a
reliable
person
C.saw
an
untrustworthy
face
D.saw
a
familiar
face
2.What
can
we
infer
from
Freeman's
words?
A.Brain
processes
cannot
be
changed.
B.The
ability
of
making
fast
judgments
can
be
acquired.
C.The
amygdala
decides
the
accuracy
of
judgments.
D.The
amygdala
tracks
only
faces
of
bad
men.
3.What
would
be
the
best
title
for
the
passage?
A.Is
facial
trustworthiness
reliable?
B.You
can
judge
a
person
even
without
being
aware
of
it
C.Can
the
amygdala
reveal
how
people
make
automatic
judgments?
D.Your
brain
decides
whether
to
trust
people
in
milliseconds
5、根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
Restaurant
chefs,
home
cooks,
and
foodies—people
who
love
good
food—often
say
that
we
eat
with
all
of
our
senses.
First,
we
use
our
sense
of
sight
to
appreciate
how
a
meal
is
presented,
either
on
a
dinner
plate
or
a
dining
table.
①________
Additionally,
with
our
sense
of
smell,
we
breathe
in
the
mouthwatering
smell
rising
up
from
the
meal.
Finally,
we
enjoy
the
food
with
our
sense
of
taste.
But
does
sound
also
affect
our
dining
experience?
A
new
report
from
researchers
at
Brigham
Young
University
said
yes.
“Hearing
is
often
called
the
forgotten
food
sense”,
says
Ryan
Elder,
an
assistant
professor
of
marketing
at
Brigham
Young
University.
②________
On
the
other
hand,
watching
loud
television
or
listening
to
loud
music
while
eating
can
hide
such
noises.
And
this
could
lead
to
overeating.
During
the
experiments,
the
test
subjects
wore
headphones
and
listened
to
noise
at
either
a
high
or
low
audio
level.
③________
The
study
found
that
subjects
who
listened
to
the
higher
volume
noise
ate
more
biscuits
than
those
with
the
low
audio
levels.
Elder
says
that
when
hiding
the
sounds
of
eating,
like
when
you
watch
television
or
listen
to
loud
music
while
eating,
we
take
away
the
sense
of
hearing.
④________
The
researchers
are
calling
this
the
“crunch
effect”,which
they
admit
may
not
seem
like
much
at
one
meal.
But
over
a
week,
a
month
or
a
year,
all
that
food
can
really
add
up.
So
hearing
the
sound
of
eating
does
reduce
the
amount
of
food
you
eat.
⑤________
Hearing
the
noises
of
your
meal
as
you
eat
could
also
help
you
to
be
more
mindful
of
the
experience
and
perhaps
help
you
to
enjoy
it
more.
A.Then
researchers
gave
them
a
hard
snack:
biscuits.
B.But
besides
not
overeating,
there
is
another(好处)
C.And
this
may
cause
you
to
eat
more
than
you
would
normally.
D.In
fact,
beautiful
food
is
healthier
than
food
that
doesn’t
look
attractive.
E.He
notes
that
soft
and
sweet
sound
is
thought
to
improve
the
taste
of
food.
F.Our
sense
of
touch
can
also
be
important
when
preparing
or
sharing
food.
G.He
says
that
if
people
notice
the
sound
the
food
makes
as
they
eat
it,
they
might
eat
less.

5答案及解析:
答案:FGACB
解析:①空格上文阐述,我们通过视觉欣赏餐盘或者餐桌上的食物,空格下文阐述,用我们的嗅觉我们可以闻到食物散发出的香味,因此推断此处讲述我们如何使用我们的感官品尝食物,所以F项“我们的触觉在准备或分享美食的时候也是很重要的”符合语境,讲述我们如何使用触觉享受美食,与上下文相符、故选F。
②根据空格下文句首的“On
the
other
hand”可知,上下文讲述相反的两个方面。由下文人们在进餐时看音量较大的电视或听喧闹的音乐可以掩盖就餐的声音,会导致过度进食可以推断G项“他说,如果人们注意倾听他们进食发出的声音,
可能会吃得更少”符合语境。故选G。
③空格上文阐述在实验中,实验对象戴着耳机听音量大小不同的声音,空格下文阐述研究发现,听较高音量的比听较低音量的实验对象进食多。因此可知,实验中,研究对象听着音量大小不同的声音吃东西,所以A项“研究者给实验对象一包松脆可口的零食:脆饼干”符合语境。故选A。
④空格上文阐述吃东西时看电视或者听嘈杂的音乐会掩盖进食的声音,失去了听觉,结合上一段的实验结果可知,
失去听觉可以导致你进食超量。故选C。
⑤空格下文阐述倾听进食的声音可以有助于更加关注进食的过程因而更加享受美食的体验。结合空格上文提到倾听咀嚼声"以避免过度进食推断,此处讲述了倾听咀嚼声的好处除了避免过度进食还有另外一个好处。故选B。
