Step4 Learning tips
1.Most of them are about animals,from which you can learn about the society.
本句是含有定语从句的复合句,其中from which you can learn about the society是非限制性定语从句.非限制性定语从句和先行词的关系不紧密,用逗号和主句分开,另外译作一句,作为一种补充说明;即使去掉从句,意思仍然清楚;而限制性定语从句和先行词关系紧密,从句不能去掉,且主句和从句之间无逗号,一定要译在先行词前.
eg. My daughter who works in Shanghai is coming tomorrow.(限制性定语从句)
My daughter, who works in Shanghai, is coming tomorrow. (非限制性定语从句)
2.hardly做副词,“几乎不”。常位于be动词、情态动词和助动词之后,行为动词之前。
I ___________________(几乎不能) remember it.
hardly做副词时,还可译为“几乎没有”
There is___________________________(几乎没有肉了)in the fridge.
注意:hardly不是hard的副词形式,它表示否定概念。
