英美人的家庭观
美国人很具有独立意识，在成年后他们便自力更生，不依赖父母。但这绝不说明他们对家庭毫无温情，只是他们认为依赖别人（包括亲人）是一种羞耻，应该靠个人奋斗去达到目标。当然，他们也有互相帮助的时候。英美人之间的亲属关系相对疏远，在语言中便有所体现，如将爸妈的姐妹统称为aunt，而我国逐一分为伯母、婶母、姨母、姑母、舅母。
英美人的家庭一般民主氛围浓厚，家庭成员之间有时连称呼也很“随便（在我们中国人看来）”。例如：Mike的五

尽管称呼很随意，但英美人特别有礼貌，如Tom的妈妈为Tom盛饭后，Tom会说“Thank

you.”在家庭中经常使用，别人为你做了一点儿小事也要感谢。晚辈帮助长辈，长辈也会道谢。
每个国家都有自己的传统生活观念，我们不能说孰优孰劣，但是为了真正学好英语，多了解一些西方社会的文化现象是非常有必要的。
