join: 侧重把原来不相连接的物紧密地连接在一起,但仍可再分开。也指把分散的人或几个部分的人联合起来,或加入到某团体中去。
combine: 指两个或两个以上的人或物结合在一起。但以失去原有的特性。
unite: 指联合、团结、结合在一起,构成一个整体。
connect: 指两事物在某一点上相连接,但彼此又保持独立。
link: 指连环式的连接,或用接合物或其它方式连接,还可指一事物与另一事物的联系或关系。
attach: 指把局部连接在整体上,小的接在大的上面,活动的接在固定的上面。
associate: 指人与人友好和平、平等地联合在一起;用于物时,指两事物因历史或其它原因,很自然被人们联系在一起,即产生联想。

acquire, obtain, gain, get, win, earn这些动词均含“获得、取得、得到”之意。
acquire: 强调通过不断的、持续的努力而获得某物,也指日积月累地渐渐地获得。书面语用词。
obtain: 较正式用词,着重通过巨大努力而得到所需或盼望已久的东西。
gain: 侧重指经过努力或有意识行动而取得某种成就或获得某种利益或好处。
get: 普通用词,使用广泛,可指以任何方式得到某物,也不一定要经过努力。
win: 主要指通过努力、斗争、比赛等而获得胜利。
earn: 侧重指依靠自己的劳动或因付出代价与有功而获得。
extra adj. 额外的, 特别的
I have extra work to do on Sunday.

adv. 额外地, 特别地,除外

perform, conduct, do, fulfil 这些动词均含“做、执行、实施、完成”之意。
perform: 指完成困难较大、较复杂的任务,较正式用词。
conduct: 和perform一样比较正式,二者意义相近,但conduct含指导、领导或监督等意味。
do: 最普通常用词,指完成某项具体工作、任务,也指完成某种行为或动作。
fulfil: 指履行和实现所许诺的、所期望或要求的事情,含最终完成的意味。
