从课文例句中我们发现,which和who引导的定语从句区别在先行词上。在例句中,which引导的定语从句是photo是没有生命的物体,who引导的定语从句的先行词是boy和everyone,均指人。下面我们来看它们的具体区别。

Which引导的定语从句
Which引导的定语从句修饰的是无生命物体,which在从句中可以做主语,也可以作宾语。
例:我给在部队里碰到的战士们拍了一些照片。

Who引导的定语从句
如果先行词指人,那么定语从句的引导词就可以用who。如果先行词指人,引导词在从句中充当宾语,那么引导词就要用who
的宾格形式whom,口语中也可以用who代替。例如:

定语从句中引导词的省略
不管定语从句修饰的是人还是物,只要引导词在从句中作宾语,就可以省略。例如:

The
early
development
of
photography
In
1827,
a
Frenchman
named
Niépce
needed
pictures
for
his
business.
But
he
was
not
good
at
art.
So
he
invented
a
camera
which
was
very
simple,

it

window

house.

picture
of
his
garden,
and
this
became
the
first
successful
photograph.
The
next
important
development
in
the
history
of
photography
was
in
the
early
1830s.

that
time,
a
new
kind
of
camera

invented.

man
who
invented
it
was
Daguerre,
also
French.
He
took
a
picture
of
his
reading
room.
In
his
picture,
you
could
see
everything
very
clearly,
even
the
smallest
things.
Soon,
other
people
began
to
use
Daguerre’s
method.
Travellers
brought
back
wonderful
photos
from
all
around
the
world.
People
took
pictures
of
famous
buildings,
cities
and
mountains
which
they
could
show
their
families
and
friends.
After
1840,
photography
developed
further.
People
could
take
pictures
of
moving
things,
although
it
was
not
simple.
They
had
to
carry
a
lot
of
film
and
other
kinds
of
tools.
But
this
did
not
stop
them,
especially
in
the
US.
In
the
1880s,
new
inventions
began
to
change
photography.
Anyone
who
wanted
to
take
photos
could
buy
film
in
small
boxes,
so
they
did
not
have
to
make
the
film
themselves.
Photography
became
a
kind
of
art
by
the
end
of
the
nineteenth
century.
Some
photos
were
not
just
copies
of
the
real
world.
They
showed
ideas
and
feelings,
just
as
other
kinds
of
art
do.
The
first
photograph
was
invented.
