一、阅读理解
CANYOUIMAGINEHOWHARDITW?OULDBETOREADSENTENCESLIKE?THIS?
Every
one
of
us
gets
so
used
to
punctuation
marks
that
not
many
of
us
give
them
a
second
thought.
Actually,
the
ancient
Greeks
wrote
this
way.
The
lack
of
punctuation
marks
probably
didn't
bother
good
readers,
though.
As
they
read,
they
just
put
pauses
where
they
fit
best.
Also
at
this
time,
sentences
switched
directions.
A
sentence
read
from
left
to
right.
The
next
one
read
right
to
left,
and
then
left
to
right
again,
etc.
The
ancient
Romans
sometimes
punctuated
like
this:
They·put·something·that·can·separate·words·in·a·sentence.
The
word
punctuation
actually
comes
from
this
idea
and
the
Latin
word
puncture,
which
means
a
dot.
When
the
5th
century
arrived,
there
were
just
two
punctuation
marks:
spaces
and
points.
The
spaces
separated
words
while
the
points
showed
pauses
in
reading.
Then
in
the
13th
century,
a
printer
named
Aldus
Manutius
tried
to
standardize
punctuation.
He
always
used
a
period
for
a
complete
stop
at
the
end
of
a
sentence.
He
used
a
slash
(/)
to
indicate
a
short
pause.
Over
time,
that
slash
was
shortened
and
curled,
and
it
became
the
modern
comma
(逗号).
Since
that
time,
other
marks
have
enlarged
the
punctuation
family.
The
exclamation
mark
(感叹号)
comes
from
the
Latin
word
io.
It
means
“exclamation
of
joy”.
The
question
mark
originally
started
out
as
the
Latin
word
questio,
meaning
question.
Eventually,
scholars
put
it
at
the
end
of
a
sentence
to
show
a
question.
Punctuation
even
keeps
changing
nowadays.
New
marks
are
coming
into
existence,
and
old
punctuation
marks
are
used
in
new
ways.
Take
for
example
the
“interrobang”.
This
1962
invention
combines
the
question
mark
and
exclamation
mark
for
times
when
writers
want
both.
For
example,
“She
did
what!?”
or
“How
much
did
you
pay
for
that
dress!?”
Obviously,
the
interrobang
is
not
widely
used
or
recognized
yet,
but
its
invention
shows
that
English
is
not
yet
finished
with
its
punctuation.
1.From
the
first
paragraph,
we
can
know
that
________.
A.good
readers
had
trouble

without
punctuation
marks
B.a

to
right
in
ancient

C.the

the
direction
of
punctuation

D.the

of
punctuation
marks

ancient
times
2.The
passage
is
developed
by
________.
A.time
B.space
C.comparison
D.importance
3.We
can
learn
from
the
passage
that
________.
A.ancient
Romans
didn't
use
any
punctuation
marks
B.exclamation
and
question
marks
came
from
Latin
C.spaces
and
slashes
were
already
used
before
the
5thcentury
D.Aldus
Manutius
first
started
to
use
commas
4.What
can
be
concluded
from
the
last
paragraph?
A.The
combination
of
two
marks
will
not
work.
B.It
takes
time
for
people
to
accept
new
punctuation
marks.
C.Old
punctuation
marks
need
to
be
standardized.
D.Punctuation
marks
are
still
changing
today.
B
“Made
in
China”
has
Changed
Many
shoppers
in
the
West
still
prize
labels,
boasting
(吹嘘)
a
product
was
made
in
Italy
without
knowing
that
a
growing
number
of
Italian
products
come
from
factories
that
are
Chinese?owned
and
staffed.
The
products
which
were
marked
“Made
in
China”
gave
the
buyer
an
impression
of
“low
pride
and
low
cost,
low
technology
and
development”.
The
statement
used
to
be
true,
but
now
it
has
changed.
“Made
in
China”
is
becoming
a
leading
part
in
the
world
market.
China's
garment
industry
(制衣业)
has
been
investing
in
producing
technology
and
training
for
decades,
and
its
workforce
has
collectively
gotten
better
at
sewing
garments.
As
a
result,
the
quality
of
Chinese?made
clothes
is
rising
fast.
It
has
been
home
to
a
highly?skilled,
highly?specialized
garment
industry,
one
that
supplies
even
some
high?end
(高端的)
labels
and
offers
the
best
mix
of
price,
speed,
and
quality.
“If
I
was
to
make
a
basic
men's
jean,
I'd
make
that
in
Pakistan,”
said
Edward
Hertzman,
co?owner
of
the
trade
publication
Sourcing
Journal.
“If
I
was
going
to
make
a
fashionable
women's
garment,
I
would
move
to
China
because
their
skill
set
is
better,
their
hand
is
better,
their
finishing
is
better,
and
they
can
handle
that
type
of
fashion.”
Indeed,
luxury
fashion
labels
now
routinely
make
things
in
China.
Burberry,
Armani,
and
Prada
have
all
produced
things
there,
because
they're
still
able
to
get
good
workmanship
at
a
relatively
low
price.
Even
the
Japanese
brand
Visvim,
known
for
its
crazy
attention
to
detail,
also
produces
high?end,
handmade
footwear
in
China.
Despite
the
rising
wages
and
costs
of
doing
business
in
China,
companies
have
not
walked
away.
“China
is
viewed
by
people
who
make
buying
decisions
as
unique
and
hard
to
copy
elsewhere,”
says
Josh
Green,
CEO
of
Panjiva.
语篇解读:本文是议论文。文章讨论了“中国制造”发生的变化。中国制造从过去的低端、廉价、质量不高正逐渐向现在的高端、价高、质优上转变。

lost
its
leading
status
in
the
world
market.
C.Its
products
are
recognized
by
luxury
fashion
brands.
D.It
reflects
China's
investment
in
producing
technology.
6.Edward
Hertzman
thinks
highly
of
“Made
in
China”
in
such

B.How

C.Should

D.Are

B
Even
if
trees
cannot
walk,
they
are
still
on
the
move.
In
parts
of
the
Arctic,
entire
forests
are
moving
northward.
Across
the
Arctic,
temperatures
are
rising
faster
than
anywhere
else
in
the
world.
As
that
happens,
the
tree
line
that
marks
where
forests
stop
and
the
treeless
tundra
(冻原)
starts
has
been
shifting
northward.
Trees
growing
along
the
tree
line
must
protect
themselves
from
the
cold
wind.
To
do
this,_plants
tend
to
grow
horizontal
(水平的)
branches
low
to
the
ground.
The
energy
it
takes
for
trees
to
grow
this
way
means
they
don't
have
enough
energy
to
make
seeds.
But
as
Earth's
climate
has
been
warming,
trees
no
longer
have
to
just
grow
horizontally.
Many
can
instead
grow
up
toward
the
sky.
This
takes
less
energy.
And
with
all
that
leftover
(剩余的)
energy,
these
trees
have
started
producing
more
seeds.
This
happens
especially
in
places
where
white
spruce
(白云杉)
grows.
White
spruce,
which
is
a
North
American
tree,
is
quite
able
to
produce
a
lot
of
seeds,
which
can
move
long
distances
in
the
wind.
When
wind?blown
seeds
end
up
on
the
tundra
beyond
the
tree
line,
they
eventually
can
sprout
(发芽)
new
trees.
This
explains
how
a
forest
can
move.
Of
course,
the
process
would
work
only
if
the
tundra
were
warm
enough.
But
in
recent
years,
the
whole
planet
has
been
warming.
New
trees
will
provide
shelters
for
some
snow.
Keeping
the
sun's
rays
from
making
the
white
surface
disappear.
Instead,
the
trees
absorb
the
sun's
heat.
This
warms
the
surrounding
air.
The
extra
warmth
encourages
even
more
trees
to
produce
seeds.
That
further
boosts
a
forest's
ability
to
expand.
In
addition,
more
trees
will
trap
more
snow,
preventing
much
of
it
from
being
blown
away.
Snow
can
trap
heat
in
the
soil
below,
which
encourages
trees
to
grow.
The
recent
rise
of
temperatures
has
helped
more
trees
grow
past
the
tree
line.
People
worry
about
impacts
on
the
animals
that
depend
on
frozen
conditions
for
food
and
shelter.
5.What
is
the
main
cause
of
the
trees
in
the
Arctic
moving
northward?
A.The
shrinking
of
northern
tundra.
B.The
rising
temperature.
C.The
fierce
and
cold
wind.
D.The
abundant
resources
in
the
north.
6.What
does
the
underlined
word
“this”
in
Paragraph
2
mean?
A.To
produce
more
seeds.
B.To
move
northward.
C.To
respond
to
the
climate
change.
D.To
protect
themselves
from
the
cold
wind.
7.What
can
be
inferred
from
the
last
paragraph?
A.New
trees
can
trap
the

which
may
make
the
soil

B.The
trapped

二、七选五
Trust
is
like
money.
It's
so
difficult
to
earn,
easy
to
waste
and
no
matter
how
much
you
have,
it's
just
never
enough.
For
you,
as
a
teenager,
trust
may
seem
to
be
a
complicated
word.
__1__
This
can
cause
a
lot
of
tension
(紧张)
between
you,
and
also
can
make
you
feel
disappointed
and
angry.
It
is
impossible
for
you
to
be
the
perfect
teenager
and
child.
__2__
But
when
it
comes
to
trust,
you
need
to
understand
something.
The
degree
to
which
your
parents
give
you
their
trust
needs
to
match
the
degree
to
which
you
prove
yourself
trustworthy.
__3__
If
you
want
their
trust,
you
have
to
behave
honestly
and
responsibly.
When
you
behave
irresponsibly,
your
parents
will
certainly
be
disappointed
in
you.
__4__
The
saying
“Actions
speak
louder
than
words”
is
true.
It
is
not
what
you
say
to
your
parents
that
makes
them
believe
in
you,
but
what
you
do.
__5__
Work
towards
regaining
your
parents'
trust.
For
this,
you
should
listen
to
your
parents,
study
hard
and
get
good
results
at
school.
Say
sorry
when
you
have
made
a
mistake,
be
financially
responsible
and
don't
abuse
what
is
given
to
you
or
ask
for
more
than
you
need.
In
a
word,
if
you
try
to
perform
well,
your
parents
will
surely
trust
you
again.
A.It
is
important
to
choose
your
path
wisely.
B.Your
parents
aren't
always
willing
to
trust
you.
C.And
if
your
parents
give
you
chores,
finish
them.
D.So
what
should
you
do
when
your
parents
don't
trust
you?
E.You
are
going
to
make
mistakes,
whether
you
want
to
or
not.
F.You
will
lose
their
trust
because
of
the
way
you
have
behaved.
G.So
you
need
to
ask
yourself
if
your
pattern
of
behavior
is
worthy
of
their
trust.

the
powerful
Medici

二、七选五
I
always
want
to
please
everybody
even
to
the
point
of
sacrificing
(牺牲)
my
own
happiness.
I
want
them
to
be
happy
with
and
proud
of
my
achievements,
but
the
result
is
that
I'm
not
happy
at
all.
__1__
Why
do
I
have
to
struggle
hard
just
to
have
other
people's
approval?
Most
of
the
time
we
care
about
what
others
will
think.
__2__
But
we
don't
realize
that
only
one
mistake
can
make
us
fall
into
pieces
because
this
type
of
mindset
isn't
healthy.
So
we
should
do
what
we
want
in
our
lives.
In
our
attempt
to
make
other
people
happy,
we're
actually
ignoring
that
we
ourselves
need
to
be
happy.
Happiness
is
a
matter
of
choice.
__3__
We
have
to
stop
thinking
that
our
self?worth
is
based
on
what
we
do
to
others.
It
isn't
true
that
our
feelings
of
security
and
self?confidence
are
based
on
getting
the
approval
of
others.
__4__
They
might
get
angry
with
us
for
what
we
say,
but
the
point
is,
we
can
satisfy
ourselves.
We
don't
have
to
pretend
that
we
agree
with
them
because
they
won't
even
appreciate
our
efforts.
In
addition,
we
have
to
accept
the
fact
that
no
matter
what
we
do,
we
really
cannot
please
everybody.
__5__
In
this
way,
it's
easier
to
focus
on
the
things
that
actually
matter
to
us
than
to
focus
on
things
that
don't
concern
us.
A.We
always
do
what
others
expect
us
to
do.
B.Trying
to
please
them
tires
me
somehow.
C.So
don't
be
worried
about
what
everyone
else
thinks.
D.We
don't
have
to
put
everyone
else
before
ourselves.
E.To
prevent
others
taking
advantage
of
us,
we
have
to
speak
our
mind.
F.It's
normal
that
we
sometimes
think
about
what
would
make
others
happy.
G.We
will
never
live
happily
if
we
live
our
lives
based
on
other's
expectations.
