A
As
your
mom
and
dad
always
say:practice,practice,practice!That’s
how
you
get
really
good
at
something,and
that’s
exactly
what
dancer
Kaeli
Ware
has
done
for
most
of
her
14
years.The
Leesburg
teen
is
on
her
first
tour
with
the
musical
“Brothers
of
the
Knight,”
which
opens
at
Warner
Theatre.
“I’ve
been
dancing
since
I
was
2
years
old,”
she
said.“My
mom
is
a
dance
teacher.At
first
I
didn’t
really
have
a
choice,but
now
I
love
it.It’s
what
I
want
to
do
every
day.”
Three
years
ago,Kaeli
was
attending
Harper
Park
Middle
School
in
Leesburg.Then
she
started
home?schooling
in
order
to
have
more
time
to
dance.“She
works
hard,”
said
Adrienne
Dellas?Thornton,the
artistic
director
at
Kirov
Academy
in
Washington,where
Kaeli
studies.Every
day
except
Sunday,Kaeli
gets
up
at
6
am
to
go
to
Kirov
Academy.There
she
dances
for
three
hours.After
that
she
rests,eats
and
does
schoolwork.At
4:30
pm,she
starts
dancing
again
at
the
Ashburn,studio
where
her
mother
teaches.She
finally
gets
to
bed
around
11:30
pm
after
doing
more
homework.“It’s
a
lot
of
work,but
I
just
keep
pushing,”
Kaeli
said.
Classical
ballet
(古典芭蕾舞)
is
a
big
part
of
Kaeli’s
studies
because,she
says,ballet
is
the
foundation
for
other
types
of
dancing.But
Kaeli
misses
doing
other
types
of
dancing,such
as
hip?hop
or
tap.“Even
in
hip?hop,you
need
correct
posture
(姿
势),”
she
says.
She
calls
the
way
she
dances
in
the
show
“lyrical
(热情的)”,in
part
because
there
are
words
that
go
with
her
dancing.“It
is
like
ballet,but
it
is
a
lot
more
powerful.I
think
that’s
why
I
like
it
so
much.”

Ⅱ.阅读理解
语篇解读 本文是说明文,话题是人物介绍类。本文主要介绍了一位成功的乐队指挥Andersson,她用心将每一段音乐展现给观众,让大家充分领略音乐所要表达的情感。
1.
解析: 细节理解题。根据文章第三段中的What
the
audience
do
not
see
is
all
the
work
the
conductor
has
done
beforehand
to
prepare
for
the
performance可知,乐队指挥在演出前要做充分准备,故答案选D。

答案: C
3.
解析: 推理判断题。这句话是Andersson在指导年轻的演奏者演奏音乐时所讲的话。她让他们想象一次平静悠闲的散步或者是一条在波涛中翻滚的小船,此处照应前文所讲的Andersson在指挥时的状态:指挥充满活力的音乐时她的动作非常有活力,当指挥平和的音乐时她的动作非常的柔和,由此可推断出Andersson讲一条在波涛中翻滚的小船是告诉年轻的演奏者充满活力的音乐需要有活力地去演奏,故答案选C。
答案: C

The
African
Children’s
Choir
(合唱团)
is
made
up
of
children
who
are
7
to
10
years
old
from
Africa.They
have
incredible
(惊人的)
voices
and
spirit
that
amaze
the
audience
everywhere
they
go!
And
they
go
to
a
lot
of
places,all
around
the
world.And
not
only
do
they
travel
a
lot,but
they
perform
with
some
superstar
singers
and
celebrities
(名人)
for
heads
of
state.But
this
is
not
what
makes
the
choir
so
special.
Like
New
York’s
PS22,they
do
not
just
sing,but
truly
put
their
hearts,souls
and
bodies
into
their
words.But
what
is
unique
about
the
choir
is
that
it
offers
hope,education
and
confidence
to
children
who
live
in
extreme
poverty.For
example,the
kids
in
the
choir
are
mostly
from
the
poorest
countries
in
the
world,such
as
Uganda.Many
children
live
in
one?room
homes
and
walk
more
than
2
miles
to
get
water
for
their
family.Most
of
the
children
have
lost
one
or
both
of
their
parents
because
of
wars
or
diseases.
Through
its
music
and
education,the
African
Children’s
Choir
changes
the
lives
of
its
children.It
allows
them
to
see
the
world.It
gives
them
hope
and
confidence.It
shows
them
that
everything
is
possible.The
choir
even
pays
for
their
education
through
college.In
30
years,it
has
educated
and
changed
the
lives
of
over
50,000
children.
And,in
turn,the
children
return
to
their
hometowns
with
new
thoughts
and
new
skills
to
help
improve
their
family
and
community.These
children
are
truly
helping
to
build
a
better
Africa.
1.What

of
the
African

C.Many

them
live
a

D.Some

2.What

D.encourage

B
Many
people
know
of
the
Hawaiian
tradition:New
arrivals
at
the
airport
will
be
greeted
with
a
circle
of
flowers
and
kisses.The
practice
started
in
Polynesia
and
Asia,and
at
first,the
lei
wasn’t
used
as
a
symbol
of
welcome.The
common
people
handed
the
circle
of
flowers
over
to
royalty
(王室成员)
as
an
offering
of
politeness
and
honor.They
chose
an
intermediary
(中间人)
to
give
the
gift
to
members
of
the
royal
family.Visits
from
mainland
America
softened
the
tradition
and
brought
about
the
greeting
we
know
today.
Before
the
invention
of
planes,travelers
arrived
by
boat
and
got
quite
a
greeting:hula
dancers,a
band,photographers
and,of
course,lei
givers.In
modern
times,tourists
are
met
by
a
smiling
local
who
places
the
lei
around
their
shoulders
and
kisses
them
on
the
face.The
latter,by
the
way,is
a
mainland
custom;Hawaiians
prefer
to
touch
their
noses
or
breathe
a
sigh
on
each
other’s
face,called
a
“ha.”
Hawaiians
give
leis
to
each
other
for
special
occasions,like
graduations,birthdays,weddings
and
other
holidays.Pleasant
ginger
flowers
in
either
while
or
yellow
are
most
frequently
used
to
celebrate
these
occasions,with
a
few
exceptions.For
weddings,the
bride
(新娘)
wears
a
lei
made
primarily
of
pikake
with
small
decorative
additions
(附加物)
of
maile,a
vine?like
flower.The
lei
worn
by
the
groom
(新郎)
is
the
opposite;it’s
primarily
made
of
maile
with
small
additions
of
pikake.Each
member
of
the
rest
of
the
wedding
party
wears
a
different
lei.Interestingly,the
groom’s
lei
is
open,like
a
scarf,while
the
bride’s
is
closed.
Usually,pregnant
(怀孕的)
women
shouldn’t
be
given
a
closed
lei,as
it’s
believed
to
bring
bad
luck
to
the
newborn.The
lei
of
welcome
shouldn’t
be
given
to
sick
people
because
frangipani
grows
wild
in
the
places
where
dead
people
are
buried.The
hala
lei
is
believed
by
some
to
only
be
given
at
the
end
of
a
venture
(a
new
business
activity),not
the
start.Besides,when
you
wear
a
lei,you
should
never
take
it
off
in
front
of
the
giver,as
it’s
seen
as
very
impolite.
5.In
the
beginning,leis
were
used
to
honor________.
A.a
new
guest
B.the
royal
family
C.the
common
people
D.a
chosen
intermediary
6.Which
of
the
following
traditions
comes
from
mainland
America?
A.Hula
dancing.
B.Lei

C.Face

D.Nose

7.When
a
Hawaiian
couple
gets
married,they

A.a
lei
like
a

B.many
different
kinds
of

Ⅲ.七选五
Reasons
you
should
travel
while
you’re
young
I
have
been
very
lucky
to
travel
around
the
world
while
still
young.According
to
my
experiences,I
advise
every
young
person
to
get
out
of
their
hometown
and
see
what’s
out
there.Here
are
three
ways
that
traveling
has
changed
me
forever.
1.Traveling
changes
the
way
you
connect
with
the
world.
I
grew
up
in
a
small
town.__1__When
you
travel
to
other
countries
and
see
the
amazing
beauty
of
sunsets
over
seas,monkeys
swinging
through
rain
forests,you
realize
the
world
is
full
of
more
beauty
than
you
are
able
to
see
in
a
lifetime.But,you
still
want
to
try.
2.Traveling
changes
the
way
you
connect
with
others.
Everyone
in
my
hometown
looked
and
acted
basically
the
same.__2__I
realized
that
my
life
could
be
enriched
by
developing
friendships
with
people
who
didn’t
look
or
act
like
me.Far
from
my
hometown,I
developed
friendships
with
people
who
were
nothing
like
me,but
were
exactly
what
I
needed.__3__
3.Traveling
helps
develop
your
interest
in
education.
__4__Just
reading
the
stories
in
books
seemed
so
boring
to
me.However,when
I
visited
the
Palace
of
Versailles
in
France
and
walked
the
halls
of
the
Louvre,I
couldn’t
help
but
have
interest
in
history.__5__
A.Traveling
taught
me
not
to
fear.
B.Traveling
makes
history
come
alive.
C.Sadly,I
never
liked
history
in
school.
D.When
I
traveled,I
learned
about
other
cultures.
E.It
also
taught
me
the
importance
of
communication
skills.
F.The
older
I
become,the
more
I
realize
I
actually
know
very
little
about
life.
G.If
I
hadn’t
had
the
chance
to
travel,I
would
have
a
difficult
time
imagining
much
else
outside
my
country.

To

However,it

found,for

reduced
overall
sales.So
restaurant
